What is your purchase plan?
What is your purchase plan when it comes to the FUNi sets(If you're even getting them)?
Are you going to get each 13-episode set when they come out, or are you going to wait for releases of full season? Also, are you getting the DVD or Blu-Ray releases?
I'm buying the first one just because it's the first release and the excitement of something new...and I may buy part 2 to match it. However, after that I think I'm just going to wait for the eventual releases of entire seasons. I'm also getting the DVD version.

I'll just get the singles, we wouldn't be seeing season sets until the series is over or a huge chunk is completed anyway.
I'm getting the blue-ray releases.

Re: What is your purchase plan?
I bought the very first Kai single DVD from Japan, although I am probably gonna wait it out a bit to see if FUNi wants to make Blu-rays, otherwise I'm just gonna have to buy the Japanese box sets. I just got a Blu-ray player.

DVDs parts, then hopefully they'll do some or just one complete Bluray boxes and I'll get that.
...What? Wait for Bluray Discs that are already out?jda95 wrote:I bought the very first Kai single DVD from Japan, although I am probably gonna wait it out a bit to see if FUNi wants to make Blu-rays, otherwise I'm just gonna have to buy the Japanese box sets. I just got a Blu-ray player.

I don't pay attention. So there are Blu-rays? Eh, they probably won't come out here in Australia anyway, but I will probably import them (assuming they aren't as expensive as the Japanese boxes). The Time Traveller wrote:...What? Seriously, the Blu-ray releases are about $20 over that of the DVD Sets... HECK NO!!!Piccolo Daimaoh wrote:I'll get them as they come out and in DVDs because they're cheaper.

Re: What is your purchase plan?
As much as I really want Kai on Blu-Ray, finances are only allowing me to buy the DB Seasons and the Z Dragon Boxes at the moment.
I'll probably check out the new dub on Nicktoons for the time being, then get the Kai sets as they go down in price as time progresses. Cheap online pricing isn't going anywhere...

Re: What is your purchase plan?
The thing that sucks most is that my dad decided to sell our Blu-Ray player just as these sets are being released. For this reason I'm holding back on buying these sets until we buy a Blu-Ray recorder, we'll also be buying a home cinema system so I hope the 5.1 on these sets are up to scratch!
I'll probably be waiting a few months for these but seeing as the next set comes out in September, it shouldn't be much of problem anyway. I really think it's worth the wait and I can't wait to pick out differences between the original dub and this new dub.

I plan on buying the first 2 Kai sets, and if I am able to, I will continue to buy them, just 'cause.

I'm picking up the Blu-rays as they're released. I'm also doing the Dragon Boxes so I hope that FUNi stops doing such close release dates! Haha!

I know and the quality is not that different from the DVDs to justify spending that much more money on it.zeldarocks wrote:Seriously, the Blu-ray releases are about $20 over that of the DVD Sets... HECK NO!!!Piccolo Daimaoh wrote:I'll get them as they come out and in DVDs because they're cheaper.

Dude it shows.. I've watched both versions on my HDTV, the price defiantly justifies the purchase.Piccolo Daimaoh wrote:I know and the quality is not that different from the DVDs to justify spending that much more money on it.zeldarocks wrote:Seriously, the Blu-ray releases are about $20 over that of the DVD Sets... and 1080p>480p
Everything's cleaner, sharper, and smoother, oh the colors also look better on the blue-ray release.
For an extra $5..I'd just buy the blue-rays.

I'm still not convinced that a cartoon show can look that much better on Blu-Ray the same way a live action movie can.Daimo-Rukiri wrote: Dude it shows.. I've watched both versions on my HDTV, the price defiantly justifies the purchase.

Try an extra $15-$20 where I live.Daimo-Rukiri wrote: For an extra $5..I'd just buy the blue-rays.

I'm waiting for new DBKAI ending single

Re: What is your purchase plan?
Really? I'd say it's the other way around. I've seen quite a few live-action movies on Blu-ray, and none of them truly impressed me visually apart from James Cameron's Avatar (And that was mostly due to the CG, not how much more detailed the regular actors looked). However, when I played the Blu-ray port of Dragon's Lair (Animation even older than DBZ) I was blown away by how much better it looked than the Arcade version. I thought the same thing about Wall-E and Up when I saw those on Blu-ray, although those are obviously a little more advanced visually.Piccolo Daimaoh wrote:I'm still not convinced that a cartoon show can look that much better on Blu-Ray the same way a live action movie can.

Re: What is your purchase plan?
I do not plan to purchase Dragonball Z Kai. Unless perhaps someone convinces me that it is worth getting. I definitely will keep getting the Dragonboxes but isn't Dragonball Z Kai like an abridgement to DBZ?
Re: What is your purchase plan?
Why?Piccolo Daimaoh wrote: Try an extra $15-$20 where I live.
Just look at the prices on these 3 websites:
Axelmusic.com:
- DVD $37.55
- Bluray $37.55
Amazon.com:
- DVD $27.49
- Bluray $31.99
Rightstuff:
- DVD $37.49
- Bluray $41.24
I think they all ship internationally (to most countries) so why are you stuck with a difference of $20 between the two? Even the shipping isn`t that expensive... For example, axelmusic has a shipping of $2.98 for the bluray, which you give you a total price of $40.58, when the retail price is actually $54.98. Amazon has the bluray at an even cheaper price but the shipping is more expensive so the total price would be about the same, I think (to Australia the standard shipping on Amazon for a Bluray seems to be $5.98, which you give a total price of $37.97. So, Amazon is actually cheaper overall).
So as you can see, you have options.
EDIT: I`ve just noticed that axelmusic may not ship to Australia. Sorry about that.

Re: What is your purchase plan?
I'm just saying that usual diffrence in Blu-Ray/DVD prices in stores (where I live), is around $10 to $15 ($20 was a bit much).rereboy wrote:
