DBZ Ultimate Uncut Edition release date

Post by laserkid » Thu Dec 30, 2004 11:26 pm

According to http://newsletter.funimation.com/ along with the second Broli movie, the Uncut DBZ hits on April 12th 2005.

I can only venture to guess this is the redub of seasons 1 and 2.

So its finally coming ^_^

Ultimate Uncut Edition?

The "ultimate" part makes me wonder if perhaps they got the full remastered episodes from TOEI...although I'm sure it's just another marketing ploy (ala "Lost Episodes"). For the sake of the fans, I at least hope that they release it in the style of Dragonball, and don't end up spanning these episodes over 20+ disks... :(

They don't really have to call it ultimate. It's not that great (although I can't wait to get it ^_^). It's like the Lost Episodes in GT, which weren't really lost only skipped.

This sounds like one of the many incarnations of Street Fighter II.

"Ultimate Super Turbo DragonBall Zeeeeeeeeee: The New Challengers Alpha!"

Seriously, I doubt it'll be any better in regards to the quality of the masters. I'm pretty sure FUNi would have to pay for those, and judging from the leaps and bounds they've taken on previous releases...yeah, not happening.

Too bad there isn't a good database of scripts. I'm working on learning Japanese, but I won't be anywhere near Daimao's level for ages, and all the scripts online are trash (save for a couple of fresh translations).

*sigh*

I wonder will there ever be an English Dub release of DBZ with the english voices and a remastered Japanese soundtrack. I may just start buying Funimations DVD's when the "Ultimate uncut edition" is out.

Well that's the way they did the entirety of Dragon Ball (minus a few insert songs but not all of them). Its not IMPOSSIBLE for it to be the case here, but I still wouldn't hold my breath. The big deal here is that we finally get them in official sub treatment, as well as the full episodes (I've never seen these episodes in full before thanks to episodes being cut out and whatnot, so I am hyped somewhat).

Well, it seems possible that they can release the first two seasons using the Dragon Box masters. The Japanese set has been out long enough that TOEI is probably willing to sell the rights to the fully remastered episodes. However, even if Hell freezes over and they do release these new disks with remastered episodes, there's no way in hell that they'll ever re-release any further episodes (Dragonball Platinum: 01 ... not bloody likely!)

[EDIT]Whoops, I misread the post... English dub with Japanese track? Not this time, they've re-hired Faulconer for the job!

Yeah, it's rather sneaky of them. It sort of gives the impression that there's something extraordinary about this release, placing it above previous "uncut" DBZ disks. I'm sure they'll just be typical 3-episode DBZ disks, though.

I dont want to turn this into a "bash funi" thread. I'm so grateful for what they have done (they introduced me the the DB world) and that they are re-releasing the early episodes uncut, but they really defy logic sometimes! Why do Dragonball dubs with english voice and japanese tracks and not the more popular DBZ?, why keep the origional japanese tracks for some movies (pioneers decision?) drop faulconer, randomly stick american new metal into others and hire someone else for the rest and GT and then get faulconer back for these re-dubs?

Anyway anyone else planning on buying the new ones?

I'm not where you're from, but can you please try and type a little better? Capitalize things correctly, throw in an apostrophe here and there... it would be quite helpful to your writing...

In the decade I've spent watching the company, I've learned but a single thing: don't expect anything. By expecting to not expect anything, you don't have to worry about what comes, because it won't matter to you :).

Yep, I'll be buying these. I haven't seen the Saiyan Saga in so long it's all just a blur from the first time I saw it. Though I agree, the "Ultimate Uncut Edition" is a little excessive.

What would you all prefer they call them? :)

"We couldn't afford to re-hire the Ocean Group seven years ago, used new actors, and now want to re-do the episodes with the current voice cast and musical composer for consistency's sake, include all of the episodes that we cut for time and general censoring, not to mention include the original Japanese version" Edition!

Back before I had even heard of FUNimation I was recording the Saiyajin Saga episodes off the International Channel. Sadly I sold the tape about 6 years ago to someone for $40, and I'm just glad I'll be able to see these episodes again.

I would really prefer the 16-episode sets to the 3-episode discs, though. They're nicer and take up way less space.

I'm from Ireland actually. No one has ever had a problem with the way I type before and I have posted on many, many message boards. I could make excuses as to why I missed some capitalization in my last post but instead I shall just say I'll endeavour to improve. Though I would suggest you make sure you dont make errors in a post where you are correcting someone else.

Have they even mentioned if they're using Faulconer for the re-dub?

The irony of my missing a word isn't lost on me.

Regardless, I really don't care much what other boards anyone has been to, what their experiences are, what their practices are, etc. This isn't "that place" that you've been to. There is a certain list of requirements that you have already agreed to simply by signing up on the board, nevermind posting. You seem to be well aware of what the correct way to type an English sentence is, and all we're doing is kindly asking that you put that into practice on this board. If you don't feel that you can live up to those standards, you're more than welcome to ask to have your account closed, and I'll help you find another board to post on.

Sun_Wukong: Yeah, it's Faulconer. I think Bruce, himself, was giving himself the congrats long before anyone else was.

Hmm, yes that does have a nice ring to it. I don't know I mean they could have just gone with "Uncut Edition". I mean the "Uncut" sells it for me there.

Oh bitch, bitch, bitch! Back in the day we didn't have ANY uncut editions AND WE LIKED IT! Now you're complaining about the ULTIMATE uncut edition?! You should be ashamed.

In general, we'd prefer you didn't post images unless it's absolutely relevant. Images aren't allowed in signatures, at all, either. You can read how to use BBcode by clicking that little "BBCode" blue link below your posting area on the left (underneath the smileys).

And it looks like you have some random stray code at the end of your post... not quite sure why that is.

Its kinda sad how desperate he is for work. I remember when GT was announced, every e-mail sent to him got a response pleading us to write to Funimation to get him his job back. -_-
