Some spritework

Post by Supa Saiya-Jin Tullece » Sun May 23, 2010 8:00 pm

So I recently got Fighter Maker 2002 (from the guys who made RPG Maker), and I'm getting ready to make a game. I've got some open source stuff to tinker with and some tutorials to read before I get the hang of anything, but I figured I could go ahead and start spriting some stuff.

I wanted to use Legendary Super Warrior based sprites because they're so easy to edit, and I'm using those in conjunction with some sprites from SNK vs Capcom: Match of the Millenium and some other 8-bit fighting games. Here's some of what I've got so far:

I think it would be cool to keep that Nappa, but it's going to take forever to sprite, and I fear he clashes too much with the other characters.

What are some of the plans you have for this fighter that you're making? Are you going to make attacks and/or a story mode? Are you looking to enlist some help?

Not entirely sure yet. I don't even know if I'll get the hang of Fighter Maker.

If I ever need help, I'll make sure I go to you first, though.

Well the spritework looks fabulous. I dabbled in spritework myself and I'm pretty good at it. I also have ideas :P. If you ever get serious, let me know.

Here's an example of a game I put together with Game Maker. I don't have a download link but the video is of real gameplay.

Wow that is some really awesome sprite work. I would absolutely love to see a game like this be made.

Let's hope this fits the page width!

So here's an idea I got for this particular version of Goku's intro:
Image

1. Just standing
2. Getting ready to jump
3. Jumping off screen
4. Weighted clothes come raining from above the screen
5. Weightless Goku falls down onto screen
6. Landing

Well, I was inspired to try out a little spritework myself.

Would anybody expect anything different from me?
