Cool Dragon Ball Music from Various Countries.

Post by Blue » Sat May 29, 2010 6:41 am

While browsing Youtube I stumbled upon what was supposedly the French opening to Dragon Ball Z. I don't know if that's correct or not but I found it very catchy.

Also here's my favorite piece of English DBZ BGM "Groovy Discotech." Admittedly I really like it because it fit incredibly well in the Hell stage when I was playing Buu's Fury. It has this bizarre other world ass backwards feel to it.

Feel free to share your favorites.

Nope, the first song's not the French opening to Dragon Ball Z, or any Dragon Ball series. It was recorded and sometimes aired as a music video composed of images of the show, and is a celebration of both the Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z series (albeit with childish lyrics as always) as the chorus implies.

The French opening was sung (as well as she could) by a female animator of the show in which the series was aired, and remained the same for all of the show (though with minor techno-like updates), showing and talking about kid Gohan even when he was in high school ("the kind Sangohan fights all meanies, our hero with a big heart will always win, his father used to be a hero..."). Also, the pictures were made of random pictures from the Saiyan and Namek arcs, with not much sense in the choice except showcasing the little Gohan.

However, for movies 12 & 13, packed together as "the movie", the original Japanese opening was used for the first time. After that, for home releases, the original opening would appear, sometimes with the song as the official instrumental version given by Toei (by opposition to a Karaoke version where background vocals are still there). Cha-La Head-Cha-La, We Gotta Power and We Used To Be Angels therefore exist as totally instrumental versions with no voice left at all, albeit in mono since that's how the show was aired back then.

Anyway, the song you mention was never actually used within the series itself, though it was probably meant for that purpose...

I've always liked the first German GT opening. The singer's voice is excellent:

That's cool, but the original song had nothing to do with Dragon Balls.

The instrumental backing to that Makafushigi Adobenchaa was pretty cool, but the singing left a lot to be desired.

As much as I don't love the dub music this song has been running through my head all day long ever since I saw a clip with it playing.
I think I may actually enjoy it.

Don't worry. I actually enjoy a lot of the dub music, just not in DBZ. :P

That piece will always bring me back to that night as a fifth grader, when YTV Canada finally first aired a new episode of Dragon Ball Z. The change with the cast was a bit jarring, but the music had me right on board. Good times. I feel old.

But then what's this? Did they just get bored and decided to add credits?

Oh yeah, that theme is cool. When that volume of the dub soundtrack came out, I was like "... OH! I remember this song!"
I don't think they used it after the Ginyu arc, so it was pretty nostalgic for me.
That's cool, but the original song had nothing to do with Dragon Balls.
At least they're being a lot more eloquent about it than the Canadian version.

Yeah, the Canadian version sucked. They shortened the song down about 30 seconds and made up their own bullshit lyrics. Not to mention the crappy singing.

The DBZ ones in the UK were my favourite. I quite like the Mexican ones, though.
Next to get; Leged of Saiyan figures and Freeza's force

If anyone sees
Any of the Legend of Saiyan line going cheapish
Or any other Banpresto DBZ figure :)

If anyone has a cooler steelbook dvd that wants to sell it (prefer new but used is fine) when/if the dragon box movies comes out contact me :)

The German opening 1 and 2 are my favorites and they're fantastic.

I love the singer.

LISTEN TO THEM.
