Dragon Ball Z: Dub Retrospective was set up so that we can take a look back at the English adaption of Dragon Ball Z with all of its ups and downs. We will be trekking through each episode starting from the very beginning all the way to the finale. I will be going in chronological order as far as the companies that produced episodes in the USA go. Voice work, scripting and my initial thoughts will be among the things looked at every episode.
I hope to update with around two episodes every week. Please sit back, relax and enjoy a Dragon Ball Z dub retrospective. If you have any questions, comments or concerns don't be afraid to E-mail me at

I hope this is going to be a long standing project people will really enjoy, please check it out. All criticism is very much appreciated.

I was actually planning on doing something like this, but then I realized I'm way too lazy to do it. Good luck.
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

Re: Dragonball Z Dub Retrospective
You lost me when you called Dragonball the prequel series.
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
Re: Dragonball Z Dub Retrospective
Anime wise Dragon Ball was the prequel series. It's a different story when you're talking about the manga but it's pretty clear cut Toei thought you're supposed to take Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z as two different shows when it comes to the cartoon. Since I'm reviewing the anime I'm going buy the anime format of the show.

Re: Dragonball Z Dub Retrospective
True, but the term prequel is reserved for supplemental material for already completed works. Dragonball is not the prequel to Dragonball Z, Dragonball Z is the sequel to Dragonball.Blue wrote:Anime wise Dragon Ball was the prequel series.
