Re: Kai Episode 61 (13 June 2010)
Vegeta kicked #19 off Goku at the end of the recap, a bit odd as he didn't make an appearance in the previous episode.
Plenty of blood on Vegeta during the SSJ flashback, as well as blood type oil leak on #19 from Vegeta's punch. Perhaps censorship may be consistently somewhat more relaxed from now on.
There were some really good musical pieces in this episode.
Only a little bit was cut from this episode, which is good because I don't want major or drastic cuts in Kai. Some minor scenes of Vegeta training in the spaceship were cut, they started with Vegeta on that planet in the flashback.
Episode ends with Vegeta looking for #20, followed by the others.
Next episode scenes showcased Piccolo fighting #20 but no scenes of Trunks. He probably makes an appearance after the next episode.

Nope. Same eyecatches as the previous episode.

Doesn't that defeat the purpose of Kai then?RazorX wrote: I don't want major or drastic cuts in Kai.
As for episode 61, well color me surprised, Saving Vegeta for the beginning turned out alright after all. I was worried more time would be wasted on Goku struggling, and people reacting, but nope! We get a recap, the music fades, then BAM! Vegeta belts out his line, que Dragon soul, this is why I like Kai.
Damn, reediting and redrawing in this REALLY improved over the original. As you may remember, there was some FUNKY animation going on here in DBZ land. With Bulma and her weird mouth movements, not to mention Yajirobe's eye spasms.
PAPARAPA! Some simple frames cut here and there and the animation presentation drastically improves.

Vegeta can be such a cocky bastard sometimes. You've got to love him.
Oh btw, there were some commercials during the intermission. One of them was with One Piece and razors but wasn't One Piece actually also a show for children? Not that there are only children watching the show but you get the point I hope.

It is, but ever since last year or so, with the release of the tenth film, One Piece has exploded even more in popularity in Japan. Luffy was the first manga character ever to be featured on a men's magazine. From November 23, 2009 to May 23, 2010 One Piece's 58 volumes sold 15,220,095 copies, making it the highest selling manga series in Japan (while the second, Naruto, only sold 4,178,597 copies). One Piece is also regularly breaking and setting new publishing records in Japan for first printings (not even Harry Potter's first printings in Japan print that much). At the time of the release of the tenth film, Strong World, all fifty-six then published (Volume #59 will hit stores in August) volumes were in the top two hundred of all manga sold in Japan for the week of December 7-13, 2009. I estimate One Piece is about nine million copies away from hitting the 200 million copies sold mark for the entire series, which would really be by the year's end.Son Wukong wrote:Vegeta can be such a cocky bastard sometimes. In addition to shaving utensils, One Piece also has mouse pads released in the same of Nami, Nico Robin, and Boa Hancock's...uh...y'know...their...yeah.
And as such, that is why Dragon Ball is completely blown out of the water by One Piece. Wait...that's not what this thread is about!! O.o

That's because the creator doesn't stop the Manga yet! DB was the BSMAT but now it's the second.dan2026 wrote:One Piece is the best selling manga of all time.JulieYBM wrote: And as such, that is why Dragon Ball is completely blown out of the water by One Piece.

Hells Yeah! One Piece has 58 Volumes! Imagine DB having 58 Volumes! And btw, the most selling manga per Volume isn't Slam Dunk? Just asking...Goku100xKamehameha wrote:That's because the creator doesn't stop the Manga yet! Logically, ANY manga that goes for longer than DB could be the best selling on volume alone, youve got to also look at quality.

Why are you discussing one piece instead of the episode itself?
I really liked this episode, the music is getting better and better. Vegeta's theme was pretty cool and fitting, though I miss the old one as well.

Well, I don't think a publisher, or the fans, would let a manga go on for very long if it weren't good quality.LeprikanGT wrote:Logically, ANY manga that goes for longer than DB could be the best selling on volume alone, youve got to also look at quality.
Great episode, though. It seems they're letting up on showing blood. Or maybe that's just because 19 is a Jinzoningen...

Nice episode! Starting to like the new ending theme.
Re: Kai Episode 61 (13 June 2010)
Something I was surprised about this episode was the lack of music during Vegeta's transformation. Typically, Kai likes to toss in music wherever is pleases them. Although, to be honest, Saiyan Blood would be the only piece I'd accept for this scene in Kai! :p

Damn, some of the animation was terrible in this episode. It's like the people in charge made a list of shots that needed to be redrawn, without actually noting what needed to be fixed.
