As old as the Superman vs Goku topic is, I still think it would be a neat little crossover game. My question and the purpose of this thread is what kind of characters from the DC universe would you like to see in this game?a PtOM reader wrote: You know what lifetime Dragonball Z fans have wanted for a long time? A Dragonball Superman crossover. And not just a crossover, but a battle to the death between Son Goku and Superman. The DBZ/Superman crossover is like a match made in heaven but no animating company has ever tried it(what with all the copyrighting and legal work, it would be difficult.) Not to mention, the fact that the only plausible storyline is for the two to fight, tie and take on a greater power, which is one of the most irritating plot lines ever. The way around this, though, would be to make a crossover videogame: Dragonball: The Arrival of Superman(or something equally as corny).

You got some Dragonball in my Superman!
Especially with the whole Dragonball vs. NonDragonball thread going on, I thought this was worth mentioning. In the latest issue of Playstation: The Official Magazine(PtOM for short) there was a letter written by a fan suggesting someone should make a Superman vs Goku videogame.

Re: you got some Dragonball in my Superman!
For the DC end of it all, just throw in the required core Justice League members, some of their villains and sidekicks, and a few popular B-Listers to even everything out in terms of numbers. With all the various ways DC characters can take advantage of their superpowers or gadgets, only a few tweaks in either direction would be needed so that they could stand up to the Dragonball characters in that "[so-and-so] vs. Capcom/Street Fighter" sort of way.

I personally would like to see Doomsday in the game. As annoying as Broly is getting, it still would be nice to see him go up against Doomsday. Also, I don't it should be limited to just the Justice League, maybe throw in the Teen Titans as well.

Like I said, some sidekicks. Though other teen superheroes would be good, too. I wasn't being too specific in my post before. If I were, I'd probably have everything planned out so everyone had a cool counterpart to go up against. That, or I'd really limit the character number and make everyone very unique.

Re: you got some Dragonball in my Superman!
In terms of varying up the roster, aside from an all-arounder like Superman, guys like The Flash are good for speed, Green Lantern for wild objects, Black Canary for technique-based hand-to-hand combat (as wellc as a stunning canary cry for making the foe dizzy). Booster Gold would also be fun. With Wonder Women we begin to run the risk of repeating ourselves, so who moves would need to be primarily weapons-based (her lasso, her gauntlets, and sword). I'm tempted to say Captain Marvel (for that iconic thunderbolt to the chest), but again: I don't want to repeat outselves. Then again, as an all-arounder like Superman there's some interesting combos with his heat vision, super breath, super spinning. Heck, you could throw in some football manuevers considering Clark's background.
As for villains, Doomsday's a given. Fanboys will come out of the woodwork for eternity to debate Doomsday and Broli. Guys like The Shade, Lex Luthor (battle suit), Clayface, Mr. Freeze, Mirror Master, Professor Zoom, and others could likely offer some nice variation. There's Darkseid as well, but again, running that risk of repetition.

I trust Capcom in terms of large rosters and variance much more than I do Namco/Bandai. The only time they got variance right for me was Super DBZ and that had less than half as many characters at most.Saimaroimaru wrote:56 and both sides got equal amounts.SparkyPantsMcGee wrote:Yeah, I'd want a small(ish) roster too. Re: You got some Dragonball in my Superman!
If I was going to make the game it would be twenty-twenty(ten heroes and ten villains on both sides). Even then, Super Sayians would only have one transformation.
For DBZ:
Good:
Goku/transform
Vegeta/transform
Gohan/transform
Trunks/transform
Krillin
Tenshinhan
Yamcha
Piccolo
Gotenks/transform
Videl
Bad:
Raditz
Nappa
Freeza Final Form
17
18
Cell Final Form
Broly
Fat Buu
Skinny Buu
Kid Buu
DCU:
Good:
Superman
Batman
the Flash
Green Lantern(Hal Jordan)
Wounder Woman
Hawkman
Nightwing
Martian Manhunter
Starfire
Cyborg
Bad:
Lex(suit)
Joker
Grodd
Doomsday
Sinestro(a little repetitive with the flash but it could work)
Deathstroke
Ares(he'd be fun)
Mr.Freeze
Solomon Grundy
Shade

Vegeta/transform
Gohan/transform
Trunks/transform
Krillin
Tenshinhan
Yamcha
Piccolo

I am the only the who doesn't want this? Besides, the game would have little to no chance of happening. Even if it did happen, it would just be another stupid crossover to please fans. Not to mention the story would be an absolute mess.

Re: You got some Dragonball in my Superman!
Well with most fighting games, the story is never really a solid one. And hell, look at MvC;there is no story. If someone wanted to make a story, It could be one of Superman(and friends) trying to find Vegeta and punish him for the crimes he committed during his arrival on earth. The setting could take place after everyone returned from Namek or something.Piccolo Daimaoh wrote:I am the only the who doesn't want this? As for actually happening, sure it probably won't but it's fun to pretend.
With Black Adam we would need Captain Marvel and then having Captain Marvel, Superman and Black Adam would seem a bit too redundant. Also, Deathstroke was one of my favorite picks out of the bunch as for the Joker, we could pull an Arkham Asylum...mysticboy wrote:Uh... you might want to replace these two with Black Adam and maybe Cyborg Superman.SparkyPantsMcGee wrote: Joker

Re: You got some Dragonball in my Superman!
I had forgotten about transformations for the Dragon Ball characters. >_<
Personally, I'd prefer to keep them limited to keep variety as much as possible. Kaiô-ken should serve merely as combo attacks. There's no real reason to number which Kaiô-ken, as anything more than the usual doubling effect would be overkill. Gokû and Vegeta should just use Super Saiyan 3 as their transformations. I say include Cell Games Gohan with his only transformation being Super Saiyan 2 and Ultimate Gohan being a seperate character. Toss in Gotenks with Super Saiyan 3, too. Piccolo, Yamcha, Tenshinhan, and Kuririn would be nice, too, but only if they can have styles built around their specific techniques.
For villains I'd suggest Piccolo Daimaô, but he might be considered too close to Ma Junior (although being able to spit up mazoku for support would be awesome). Freeza (final form, with a transformation to his 100% power), [Super] Perfect Cell, and Majin Boo all seem to be sure things. For Majin Boo, I suppose it would be best to include Fat Boo for his magic related techniques and then Boohan for his ultimate power. I'd suggest Pure Boo, too, but...well, that feels like overkill. Broli would be a destined shoe-in so I won't even bother. Janemba would offer an interesting set of techniques, too. Personally, I'd love to see Super Baby-Vegeta 2 slipped in, as well. Super Saiyan Son Gokû 4 would also make a neat hidden character, too.

Re: You got some Dragonball in my Superman!
I think having characters able to fly would be the biggest issue since characters like Batman would have trouble hitting Goku. I was going to list down Piccolo Daimo but I have no idea where he would fit in the story.
