Re: Bra
She doesn't really get enough screentime for me to form a definite opinion on whether I like her or not. I guess she's okay, and the driving scene with her and Vegeta was actually pretty funny. I love her in DBM, especially on the title page to chapter 11.
I'm sure people who post on this thread are going to say negative things about her, because she mostly appeared in GT and we all know how GT makes absolutely no sense what-so-ever and every episode is completely littered with plotholes and inconsistencies.

I didn't know this would be a GT hate thread...keep it to DBM then.

Eh, it's not like that she has anything to do with those plotholes either. It's not like she was the one fighting Super Android 17 in base.Piccolo Daimaoh wrote:I'm sure people who post on this thread are going to say negative things about her, because she mostly appeared in GT and we all know how GT makes absolutely no sense what-so-ever and every episode is completely littered with plotholes and inconsistencies.
Overall, not taking that she appeared the most in GT into consideration at all, I don't like her. She hasn't got much personality. It doesn't matter if it's GT or DB:M.
Re: Bra
I don't even remember her having any dialogue outside of that one episode of GT. Even then the dialogue was "Tee hee I like boys and shopping and daddy is a big ol' meanie!" I'm not very sure she has a personality outside of "stereotypical anime female". Her outfit is strange, 12 year olds dressing in skimpy red leather is pretty odd. Then again look at the outfit Toriyama designed for Chi Chi as a kid. She could have played a role as Bulma's lab assistant or something, that might have been cool. Bra was pretty much a background character without a personality at the end of Z too. It makes me wonder why she even existed in the first place.

Re: Bra
I guess she shows that the "Brief" family is doing alright. Life goes on, the story isn't over, etc. I see no reason for her to not exist, just because we don't get a chance to learn much about her.Blue wrote:It makes me wonder why she even existed in the first place.
She has all of one line in the manga, of course, so I don't feel strongly about her either way. Her GT self caused one funny moment, but overall wasn't much more interesting. The character certainly has potential, and I like that she's at least interesting in DBM.

Re: Bra
She's been one of my favourite characters for years. Since we know so little about her it's so fun to speculate. I personally believe that Bra is more than just a girl who likes to shop (we only see her do this in one episode, so it's pretty dumb to assume it's everything she does). I really like the fact that she's got Vegeta wrapped around her finger. And she was so adorable as a little kid even though she unfortunately didn't fight. But she did use Bukujutsu in GT and the fact that Bebi used her to drain a lot of power from proofs that she's stronger than she looks and she has a lot of hidden potential.
All speculation but that makes it fun. I'm still hoping Bra will soon be a playable character in a video game. I'm sure she's one of the strongest females in the DragonBall universe. She has potential... potential to be an interesting character ánd a strong fighter.
In my personal opinion she should've gone on the journey with Goku in the beginning of GT. She could've been the replacement for Bulma if you know what I mean. Add Vegeta and hilarity ensues. xD

Re: Bra
I think that fact is set up very nicely with or without her though which makes her existence feel somewhat pointless to me. It's not like I adamantly want her to vanish or anything. I'm really pretty apathetic towards her being around, just seems kind of strange to have a character who's a child of the main cast and literally not give her anything to do or say.Bussani wrote:I guess she shows that the "Brief" family is doing alright. I always found that odd too, you might think he'd want to give Trunks a son or daughter as opposed to giving Vegeta and Bulma another child.Choice195 wrote:Bulma was something around 40-50 and she still got pregnant and had Bra/Bulla.

Then, you must feel the same way about Marron, Kuririn's daughter?Blue wrote:I think that fact is set up very nicely with or without her though which makes her existence feel somewhat pointless to me. Re: Bra
More or less. I forget she exists half the time. Any enjoyment I get out of her is knowing Kurririn's happy.Bura wrote: Then, you must feel the same way about Marron, Kuririn's daughter?
That's exactly it, that's ALL we see her do. Going off of what they give us she likes to shop and hang out looking over railings. There's no material in the story to support even a hint of any other personality or hobby.Bura wrote:I personally believe that Bra is more than just a girl who likes to shop (we only see her do this in one episode, so it's pretty dumb to assume it's everything she does).

Re: Bra
Well, I'm pretty apathetic towards her, too, but... I don't know how to word it, but I don't like when an author only creates characters when they serve some sort of purpose. It seems predictable and unrealistic. So I guess I don't see it as "strange", but learning more about her would have been nice. It just probably wouldn't fit into the fast paced final chapters.Blue wrote:I think that fact is set up very nicely with or without her though which makes her existence feel somewhat pointless to me. Trunks was only 18 at the end. Re: Bra
Ah well that does make sense, someone like Trunks would probably wait longer to have kids then 2 hicks that live in the mountains.Bussani wrote: Trunks was only 18 at the end. I guess that didn't stop Goku and Chichi, though...

Re: Bra
That's not true. She can fly. You can't just fly without having learned it. This can only mean she did receive some sort of training from Vegeta.Blue wrote:That's exactly it, that's ALL we see her do. I remember in a PS2 game, don't remember which one though, Bra said she'd rather shop than train. But this does implies that Vegeta does train her SOMEWHAT. And she doesn't necessarily hate it, she just prefers to shop. But she's a teenage girl so.

Re: Bra
I think her "point" (particularly in GT) is to reflect more on Vegeta rather than her having a personality herself. Vegeta being one of those fathers who is a slave to his little angel and takes her criticism of his precious mustache to heart, shows just how much the prince has been tamed. Yeah, they sort of played with that idea with Trunks but Trunks is a fighter and a boy. The father/son relationship is different than the father/daughter one.Blue wrote:That's exactly it, that's ALL we see her do. It's actually those "normal" scenes of GT that I like the most. Same with the end of Z and Movie 13. It's nice watching the characters have an actual life. I guess that's why I like Bra. Because she represents normal life.

Re: Bra
That's true it is something, had we seen it in the actual show or even heard the training mentioned I may feel different. Although it's possible she could have hated it and was just bribed into it by her father with a huge gift. Then again we don't know anything about if she could be easily bribed or how much she likes or dislikes fighting and KI training so who knows? My guess is as good as yours.Bura wrote:[

I totally understand that. As I kinda mentioned that's the sole reason I can enjoy Marron's existence. They still really do nothing but help further establish and/or develop the main characters personalities. That is cool but it doesn't change the fact the kids themselves are pretty under developed in the personality department.TonyTheTiger wrote:

Re: Bra
I also think the relationship with Vegeta is one of the big factors in my liking for Bra. I remember when I read about it for a first time, I was so excited about the idea of Vegeta having a daughter and everything. XD

I don't, I read the first chapter a few years back but I was turned off by some of the tracing they did from actual scenes in the anime and manga.Ussj Future Trunks wrote:Bura: Do you read DBM? Bra is pretty much a badass in that comic.
But I keep hearing so many positive things about it, I might try and read it again.

Re: Bra
I don't have an opinion of her. She was always just...THERE. At least Goten was needed for fusion.
A Dragon Ball/Urusei Yatsura crossover would be awesome.
Having Toshio Furukawa balance between Piccolo and Ataru would be hilarious.
