A renewed interest in Burst Limit.

Post by Kingdom Heartless » Wed Aug 04, 2010 5:14 am

After a while of not playing any Burst Limit, I popped it in to see if I could get a few more achievements (I was only at 270... I wanted to have a better percentage for Dragon Ball games), and I found myself actually getting really into it. Visually, it's great... I love the graphics in it, and for the most part the gameplay is really good. The small roster and saga count hurts it, but for me, its major issue is the Drama Pieces. They are intrusive and irritating. Doing a fight over and over is one thing, but to have unskippable clips coming up every 15 seconds is frustrating as all heck. It makes you lose the flow of the fight and screws you up.... even the ones that are meant to be helpful to your character.

I'd love to get a sequel with a better rosters and skippable drama pieces.

My thoughts exactly. And would it kill Dimps to add a few more stages as well? They really need to get off their asses and make a Burst Limit 2. If any Dragon Ball game is in dire need of a sequel, it's got to be Burst Limit.

I'll also add that the BGM is really good. There's such a great variety of it.

Yeah, the BGM was pretty good. I didn't find it that memorable, but at least it fitted in well with the battles. "Kiseki no Honō yo" is easily the best thing to come out of the game, though.

60fps would be nice for a Burst Limit sequel too.

Every now and then I pop in Burst limit for fun. It's a great game and I wish this series would have continued instead of Raging Blast. Surprisingly I'm still able to find people to play against online but I always seem to get my ass kicked.

Also, I didn't know this game had achievements. I have the Playstation version and it was made before Sony started making trophies, it's a shame Dimps didn't make a patch for them.
...Wait what are you doing? Are you still reading this? I finished what I had to say, why don't you move on to the next post?

There was just too much negative reception against Burst Limit. As I've posted before, a lot of folks couldn't register with the new ki system and Drama Pieces. It ain't gonna happen. Raging Blast is Dimps' main focus now, for better or worse.

Dimps has nothing to do with Raging Blast.

Burst Limit is literally begging for a sequel.

Anybody know any good, reasonable reasons why we haven't gotten a sequel for this game?

Street Fighter IV, Super Street Fighter IV, Street Fighter X Tekken, Sonic 4...

I'm actually relieved we don't have two alternating or concurrent styles of fighting games for the franchise. OK, well... definitely not concurrent... alternating would be interesting, kinda like the Treyarch & Infinity Ward thing we had going for a while with Call of Duty (not that I even play those games), except that these would be very different from each other...

Oh, parallel universes, how you have all the answers to these questions...!

So now are they currently working on Sonic 4 and Street Fighter X Tekken correct, so Dimps is going to be the co-developer in Street Fighter X Tekken?

One of the best things about Burst Limit were the cut scenes :D . Well, the ones that didn't have reused animation. I really love the bonus videos you get at the end of the Freeza and Cell arcs but it also makes me wish that all the cutscenes, stages and characters were in it eg. City Stage, Mecha Freeza, Chaozu self destructing.

Yeah, it's one of the few games I've seen in recent years that actually created proper cutscenes.

I want to know about this too. I would love to work for Dragonball achievements. Maybe I'd actually have a game with 100% completion. I don't want to be stuck playing Raging Blast. I'm really not a fan of that series. I might have to cave in and get Raging Blast 2 though, just so I can play with some of you guys online.

I'm happy for Dimps because they got to move on to bigger, better and more credible titles but man do I miss them. I'd love to have alternative games between Spike and Dimps. Sure it would be a Dragonball game every year, but each developer would have two years to develop and perfect their franchise before selling it. There would be a style for every type of fan, and if one developer offers one thing the other is going to have to do the same to compete(we'd see improvements from competition).

Raging Blast suffered from a negative reception too, only there's was worse. Not one gaming site loved the game and sales were worse than Burst Limit(There is a sales thread around here somewhere). The only reason Burst Limit two isn't happening any time soon is because, as VegettoEX has pointed out, Dimps is working on bigger titles.

Trust me, pal.... I wouldn't hold your breath for the 1000. Not unless you can beat all 100 in Survival, complete all chapters with Z rating on Z difficulty, and so forth.

I'm just trying to make it above 500. I'm at 465 at the moment, and am doing a Very Hard playthrough now.

Raging Blast, on the other hand, I made it to 580 on. I could probably get a few more, but I just got bored with it.

I'm not online though.... which is disappointing, since there seems to be enough people to play with.
