20th Anniversary Contest (Live, In-Progress)

Post by VegettoEX » Sat Jan 15, 2005 9:06 pm

The contest is live, as-of 8 pm!

I'm kindly going to ask that all conversation as to which image is what and where it's from and blah blah blah... be held off until a winner is announced. General conversation about how the contest is welcome, though!

Have fun!

Mine's in! Hopefully my exposure to Toriyama's art will help me... very sly, guys! Some of those are real head-scratchers!

Pretty creative...but way too hard for me to even attempt.

Good thing there's no temptation for me to even try.

Who will join me and the DVD cover contest winner (couldn't get his name because the original contest index has been nixed) in the Halls of Daizenshuu EX fame?

...Alakazam.

Ok maybe not but that's who I want to put my money on.

The original contest index will return once this one's all done, so you'll still be able to check out all the past contests 'n stuffage.

I just sent in my entry a few minutes ago. I thought it would be easy since I've read all of the manga....so wrong! Man, some of those were really tough, especially ones that only showed things like landscapes. Hell if I'm gonna go flip through 42 volumes to see if a certain tree or mountain was actually drawn by Toriyama-sensei (but then again, that's probably why I'll lose ^_^;; ) Sometimes I got paranoid on ones where it seemed like one pic was obviously Toriyama-sensei while the other looked completely different. Was it reverse psychology so I would pick the one that I didn't think it was because it seemed so easy? Or was it reverse-reverse psychology (i.e., logic :P) so that the one that obviously looked like Toriyama's work was, indeed, drawn by him. Congratulations, I was totally mind-raped by this contest.

(I'm back, by the way, if anyone remembers me....I'm a message board drifter ^_^;; )

With the added hall of fame with 3d rotating holographic pictures of the winners holding up their prizes and their entry while playing the theme song of their choice.

By the way...not to be too specific but there seems to be a part of the contest where you either felt goofy or just got lazy.

EDIT: Reviewing it again there is some EXTREME care taken in some of these picture sets. It almost seems like you found works not drawn by Toriyama first and then worked backwards to find the picture they were based off of...

Whatever you did, this must have been in the works for quite a while.

Just sent my entry in. Gah! Some of those images were really hard to figure out. I hope I got all of them right, but I doubt it. :(

That was....easy. No offense intended. Didn't have that hard of a time making out which was manga and not. I did like it though. Good luck to anyone who took it. I hope you have some more contests. This one was very interesting.

You are one clever bastard

EDIT: NO HINTS! NOT EVEN OBVIOUS ONES!

Bah, I probably got a lot of them wrong, and I used 48 minutes on it too. Only looked up 3 pictures too.

I just submitted my entry. Some of those were very tricky while others I caught on to. For example characters that appear in Dragon ball but also appear.... sorry can't give it away. I believe it was sort of unfair for us who haven’t read the Japanese manga simply because the Buu saga has been translated yet. Hope I won. :P

I did it in about ten minutes. XD As my teachers always say: Go with your initial thought/guess, as that is usually the right one. Going to submit it now for the heck of it.

Will we know who won right away? Or do we have to wait the full 24 hour period? Maybe periodic updates would be good?

My guess is the winner will only be made known immediately if someone sends in a 100 % correct answer. If that doesn't happen, EX'll just sit out the 24 hour period...

Sent in mine, too, but my hopes aren't really that high.

Question; when the contest is finished, we'll be told which pictures were correct? I'd like to see how close I was when it's all said and done. I think I did pretty well for myself though.

I won't end it unless there's a 100%-correct answer sheet. Until then, it stays open just-in-case.

Yes, all answers will be shown when the contest is over, so you'll know exatly where they came from

Here's your status update... I won't say who it is, but someone's got 95% correct, and that's the best thus far, of about the 30 entries I've gone through.

EDIT: Just got one with 96%...

We're only allowed to enter once right? ^_^;; after going back over the pictures, I realized I should've examined a bit more careful..

Don't worry, I felt the exact same way.

PS: I love Question 81 XD.

Yes, one entry per person :P. Guess I could have made that more clear, but I'll just disregard multiple-entries from the same e-mail address/person/name.
