New series after Kai?
I have been thinking about this new Kai "remaster" and couldn't help but suspect that there might be a new series after Kai. Just follow my train of thought here for a moment:
Considering that not too long ago Dragon Ball Z has been remastered in its entirety, remastering it again for "HDTV" alone seems a little expensive: the costs for rerecording the voices for 100 or so episodes alone is astronomical (believe me on that, I work in the music business) . Add to that the new music, editing costs and the actuall remasterization of all those scenes, not to mention all the new animation; that will create quite the hefty bill just for a Dragon Ball Z "HD" version.
Also, considering the last TV special released, Yo Son Goku and Friends Return, had a new art style, was set within the Dragon Ball Z story arc and aside from Tarble could easily pass on as canon, theres a good indication that theres at least an intention to revive the series. Not too long ago, DBZ was all the fever, and even now while its not as popular as it once was, the franchise still sells consistently.
Then theres also these new DBZ games coming out: Dragonball Online, Raging Blast 2, the PSP tag game and the Wii game set in Dragon Ball times. Observe how none of these games include Dragonball GT's story arc. Not only that, Toriyama's involvement in Dragonball Online is also a big pointer that he is still interested in the series. Finally, having a complete reanimation of "Plan to Destroy the Saiyans" included with this new Dragonball Z game is pretty big giveaway in my opinion.
It might be a little wishful thinking on my part, but considering all this evidence it is kind of hard to look away. Dragonball is a multimillion dollar franchise, not too long ago it was in a stagnant period with no new content to keep it going, Toei/Toriyama would not want it to die away. In a sense, its like Star Wars and Star Trek: how old are these franchises? Yet we know theres an inevitable new installment coming at sometime. Dragonball is no different; in the end is all about money.
Anyways, thats just my two cents. Anybody else feel this way?

Re: New series after Kai?
I actually already made a topic about this
I think if there's going to be a new series and it's not directed by Toriyama, It just going to be like GT
The only good thing is that there will make the series with today's technology! So it's going to be like Kai's OP and ED
And I think there's really a big chance, That they will make a new DB series.

If another series is made then get a new team to make it, and do something original with the series for once. Seeing that GT pretty much reused ideas that we already seen before.

I'm not so sure. Although a new series would be great, I think this is more of a last hurrah than a revival.

Anything with a little effort and a good plot would be welcoming at this point. I'm considering buying Raging Blast 2 over a remake of a 30 Minute "OVA". Gah..

Re: New series after Kai?
Well they have a few options options, they could fill in the space between Kid Buu's death and the end of Z or alternatively they could do the story of Goku Jr and Vegeta Jr.
That's just me wishing though, if anything appears I bet you it'll be Dragonball O (Pronounced 'Zero') and it will be about Dragonball Online's story, but Dragonball O (pronounced 'oh') doesn't sound as cool.

What if they just completely remake Dragonball GT?ShadowDude112 wrote:If there is I want it to be Dragon Ball GT Kai... wait, let me try that again.
Yes, that includes the story-line and killing off Pan quickly.
Also, make Trunks is like 23, make him look less like Teen Trunks and more like Post-Hyperbolic Trunks.
and Gohan... Don't even get me started.

It was a joke. As in GT has no Manga counterpart. That's what I meant.Jaruka wrote:What if they just completely remake Dragonball GT?ShadowDude112 wrote:If there is I want it to be Dragon Ball GT Kai... wait, let me try that again.

Re: New series after Kai?
If they re-drew everything, I would LOVE GT so much more. They drew those characters so......terribly.... unforgivably at times it was sickening. [refers to ANY time we see kid Goku's hands. They are little nubs with no knucklesor anything]ShadowDude112 wrote:If there is I want it to be Dragon Ball GT Kai... wait, let me try that again.
Aside from maybe a new movie, I don't see them EVER making a new series or saga. Although I would love that more than anything. [it would be AFTER Tarble but before GT.]

I know, but you gave me a thought, I hadn't really considered just completely remaking Dragonball GT beforeShadowDude112 wrote:It was a joke. As in GT has no Manga counterpart. Dragonball AL (After-Life)
Goku is gone in another planet far from the Supreme Kais planet, Gokus successors Gohan and Goten are watching over the earth along with Uub, Trunks, Piccolo, and Vegeta.
New Transformations = Super Saiyan 5, 6, LSS3, and Ultra Namek.
New Characters = Legendary Super Saiyan (Not Broly), and a Character similar to Freeza and Cooler.
Time-line = After the end of GT, Goku is training on another planet far away with Pikkon, during the training he unlocks a new level beyond Super Saiyan 4.
You know what, Just read Dragonball AF by Toyble thats what I'm talking about.

Re: New series after Kai?
Yeah, if they do continue it, it should replace GT in a good manner. They could even use some parts of GTs saga, Omega Shenron wasn't a bad idea just as long as they give all non Goku characters a bigger role. Pan's character should also have been developed more: Gohan had massive potential even up to becoming the most powerful unfused character in Z (OK thats debatable but its close enough) so its only natural Pan should have the same kind of potential. Gohan should also have a bigger role in GT, after all he had massive power in the end of Z.
Re: New series after Kai?
I would rather have newly animated original Dragon Ball. Essentially DB Kai but done right and done for the original Dragon Ball.

Re: New series after Kai?
It should be an Astro Fighter Sunred-style show about Kami and Mr. Popo's daily lives.
Kentai wrote:Son Gokuu is a fascinating character anyway, because he is - at face value, anyway - an idiot savant. The victim of violent head trauma as an infant [...] he's a simple bumpkin with a fair share of brain damage who's natural talents to work out what's wrong compensate for his broad lack of common sense. But he's also a fighter, through and through [...] he fight until he has, in no uncertain terms, beaten his enemy on terms they can both acknowledge. He doesn't want to kill anyone, or even prove that he can win... he just wants to know he can. He's an ineffably charming bastard who's manly leanings were really incendental, and yes, the fact that he was voiced by a squeaky woman made the combination perhaps all the more charming.

Soppa Saiyjins from Dorgou Ballru Zetto is my favorite transformation everah, especially when Trounksoru did it in front of Seru and when Bejita did it when he faced Jingonigen-hachigo. But for real, I use the FUNi pronunciation. - Soppa Saia People

I wouldn't mind some new specials every now and then. Maybe some that delve into DB's backstory. The original Majin Buu conflict? Kami's childhood, conflict with Garlic Sr., and subsequent ascension to the throne of Guardian?
I'd also enjoy some shorts, like Goku's fight against Mecha Freeza and King Cold in the original timeline.

Yu-Gi-Oh! GX and 5D's are craps because the main story doesn't involve the previous main character but DB always involve Goku, So no worries! I want a new story.AnimeMaakuo wrote:They shouldn't make a new series at all. Otherwise is would be hated terribly. Just like Yu-Gi-Oh 5D and the new Pokemon. Just leave it original man.

Because Goku already become..... whatever he is and a story about Goku Jr. is already been showed in the GT TV special but it's quite a shame that they don't have Vegeta Jr. though.AnimeMaakuo wrote:Zephyr wrote:I wouldn't mind some new specials every now and then. YES! That's EXACTLY what I think, that would be cool. But any NEW story after GT with ss10101011010 would just be stupid.
