Who do you think should sing "Only a Chilling Elegy" for the English dub of Kai?

Ayres, as he's Freeza!

Personally I'd go with Brice on this one.

I thought the only part of that song that played in the show was the choir/ensemble part, am I wrong? FUNi has dubbed songs like that before. According to them, they record a bunch of different voice actors on their roster with singing talent on a one-by-one basis, and then just sync their recordings so it sounds like they're all singing at the same time.

I believe they have it reappear when Freeza has changed into his final form, and that they have the verses (i.e. one singer) parts there.

We now know that as of episode 37, the chanting of the song is left untranslated. I put my thoughts on why I like this better in this thread. And after this information so kindly supplied by The GREAT D., I stand by my initial judgment that Ayers singing the rest of the song would be badass.

WOW...that actually sounded really good! And his singing voice is a very close match to the Japanese singer's voice. Yup, he should definitely be the one to sing the song.

Gah! I can't play the song! It's been about a year since MySpace has let me play their music. :/

Anybody's heart broken?

No dub.

Honestly, the way the scene plays out, you can only hear about 5 words of this song anyway. Dubbing it would have been a lot of effort for very little return.

I'm taking a guess that there is going to be a dub on the dvd, but not on the tv version due to censorship issues. You can't just randomly replace words in a song, it doesn't work well.

Heart-broken? No. Majorly disappointed? VERY. I was REALLY looking forward to a dub of this song. I count it as the first time I've been massively disappointed with the Kai dub.

In the whole scheme of things, it's not fatal. It's just one song, and I'm still going to watch the dub. I just hope this doesn't mean now other songs aren't getting a dub either.

As Kai_fan said, they probably didn't dub the song because you only hear about five seconds of it. With the other songs, you hear a lot more.
