My theory on how Ginyu got his current (pre-goku) Body
Ginyu can take over other people's bodies, so i assume that he has done it before, otherwise he wouldnt know he could.I cant remember but I'm pretty sure the anime at least says that Ginyu's body we see isn't his original body. So my theory that Ginyu's current body was tailor made for him to inhabit. How? I believe that Ginyu's body is a mutated clone of Freeza. It makes sense that Ginyu would want to live in the strongest body possible, and the strongest being in the universe is (in his mind) Freeza, so Ginyu had a clone made and altered with some other collected DNA.
The clone wouldn't have had any mind in it, so Ginyu could just have left his old body without the fear it may be turned against him, and taken over the clone.
"But Frieza and Ginyu look nothing alike!" you say. Well thats why i said it was mutated. It probably contains genes from other races of aliens, and the physical similarities only appear in the eyes, which are both red, and the Big Black horns they both have. Now what about the fact that ginyu no where near rivals Freeza's power. Well i believe that much of Freeza's power isn't genetic, including his ability to transform. Ginyu was only a clone of , as i said Freeza's first or maybe second form, not a perfect clone of the whole being, so Ginyu wasn't able to transform, and didn't have the huge deposits of power that came with the ability.

While I thnk Ginyu has changed before, I think the body he shows up in is his origional. He likely used his Body Change for strategic purposes before, to gather intelligence, or to screw with a particular enemy. Afterwards, he'd simply change back, likely after injuring the new body beyond use.

With Goku, he found someone who was actually stronger than him, so he decided to do this one for keeps, and instead injured his own body. We all know how that worked out.
