Dragon Ball Character Quiz

For those of you unfamiliar with procrastinating on papers, Sporcle.com is a website consisting of (often extremely stimulating) user-submitted word/trivia quizzes. It's addicting, so fair warning.

In the spirit of procrastination, and because every other Dragon Ball quiz I've found on there was god-awful, I made a 20-minute, 200-character Dragon Ball quiz. Too hard? Too easy?

Also, I tried to make it accept as many alternate names/spellings as possible, but let me know if there's another one I should add for any answer. Also let me know if a hint doesn't work, etc.

116/200 - not bad, considering you put some obscure characters in.


Nitpicks:

1) Quite a few people call him "Panputt", which didn't work. It's also used in the FUNi dub.
2) Neither "Taijorokun" nor "Taijouroukun" work, which is what I intially inputted for "Annin".
3) Just inputting "Senbei" doesn't work.
4) "Shapner" doesn't work, which is a more appropriate romanization.
5) Just inputting "Popo" doesn't work.
6) "Kibit" doesn't work, which is used in FUNi's subtitles.
7) "Grey" for "Gure" doesn't work.
"Cado" (for the JSAT villain) doesn't work.
9) "Flappe" didn't work, which is what he's called in the dub.
10) "Burta" and "Butta" don't work.
11) "Jeece", "Jeese", "Jheese" and "Jheece" all don't work.
12) "Hachihyack" doesn't work.
13) "Zaacro", his dub name, doesn't work.


I know it may seem like I'm tearing it apart, but I really like the idea and just wanted to help.

Thanks. I'm implementing all those changes. I definitely want people to point out names that don't work, because there are just too many romanizations/different English names to keep track of. So keep 'em coming.

I also changed the design, changed a few hints, and condensed a few characters into groups (so that you only have to know the name of one of the girls kidnapped by Oolong, for example) to make room for others.

Forgot a couple obvious (like Kakarot, durr), missed a few because I only knew the dub names (like the Jiggler and Nouva Shenron), and I assume the rest are filler.

Close; it's "Abo." Or I guess it could be romanized as "Avo" if you want to be more obvious.

Also, all the dragons are set to accept the dub names as well. That particular one is spelled "Nuova Shenron" by Funimation for some ridiculous reason. They're set to just accept "____ Star Dragon" in English too though.

Whose dub name is "the Jiggler"? I'll add it as an accepted answer if it's legit.

I started trying to answer it, but when it didn't accept any of my names for Kattatsu I decided to give up. I just spell too many peoples' names weird.

Kattatsu added (I had it as Katats), and quiz reformatted so that it randomizes every time, but forces the user to go in order (with option to skip questions). That way they can't just type in #13-20 randomly to get each android; they have to be on the right question.

Some obstacles I ran into:

'Saibaimen' works, but not 'Saibaiman'. I guess it's intended to be the plural, but still.
'Muuri' works, but not 'Muri'. I think both should be possible.
'Cell Jr' works, but not 'Cell Junior'. Same as above.
'Paragus' works, but not 'Paragas'.
'Cui' works, but not 'Kiwi', which I think is how a lot of people would spell it.
'Umigame', the japanese name for the Kamesennin's turtle, doesn't work.

I also had trouble finding out how to spell 'Hatchihyack'. I think I tried 'Hatchiyakku' among others, but gave up and clicked Next.

I got 156 characters by the way. I only watched GT once, so I don't remember a lot of those names, same for DB/Z filler. But that's okay.

Good call on "Kiwi," "Cell Junior," "Paragas," and "Saibaiman/Saibaman."

"Umigame" already works, and in fact that's what his name shows up as on the actual chart. You might have had a typo in there when you tried it. I think I already have like six different spellings for "Hatchihyack," but I'll look again. And I'm not adding "Muri" because that's just wrong. His Funimation name is "Moori," and his Japanese name has a long vowel sound.

Also, I had someone request I add "Dark" as another name for General Blue's fat second-in-command "Dock." I'm pretty damn sure that's just a completely wrong romanization (isn't his kana name just ドク?), but I've seen it all around the internet for some time. Has this ever been an official name used by Funimation or Viz? If so, I'll add it. Otherwise I won't.

"Dock" is "ドック" in Katakana, and "Dark" is "ダーク". So yeah, they're fairly different.


I'm pretty sure he's unamed in all versions, though.

I got stuck on a bunch of filler and GT character's names.

Stupid Mistakes I made:
Arg I accidentally put "Old Kai" instead of "Old Kaioshin"

The first thing I thought of with the "Dragon who can grant any wish" question is the Black Star Dragon. I guess I took it too literally and tried to think about what Dragon had no limitations.

Spelled "pi pi" instead of "pai pai" dur.

Can't spell Chouzu...ever. Cost me a question.

Put Dracula instead of Dracula Man




Suggestions:
Could you add "Full Metal Jacket" to the name list? It's Viz's name for Major. Or is it too much of a stretch?
