Top 10 Reasons Vegeta is My Favorite Character
'Goten Forever' inspired me to create this thread.

2. The fact that during the Namek Saga, he was in what I like to the "dark gray area". He was basically a bad guy but not 100%. He was only a good a guy in the sense that he and the good guys had a common enemy.
3. The way he stole Freeza's 5 dragonballs.
4. He's a badass loner.
5. His Hair
6. Looks awesome in Saiyan Combat Armor
7. Has Saiyan Pride
8. Is cold as ice
9. It's Over 9000
10. The most badass animé character IMHO

Re: Top 10 Reasons Vegeta is My Favorite Character
I have to agree with you 100% about Vegeta being an amazing character! He is a total spunk.
Not to mention his amazing personal development through the course of the series.
He is one of the most complex characters in DBZ and GT.
He is most definitely my favorite character as well and the main man in my figurine collection.

Re: Top 10 Reasons Vegeta is My Favorite Character
He is cruel, selfish, his pride can lead to complete disaster... but I still like him. Maybe because when I was watching DBZ first time I was a little girl partial to aristocracy. Isn't it strange? We live in completely democratic society but when it comes to watching cartoons knighthood or aristocratic image give extra points to every character- even if that "prince" is in fact slave (Vegeta), homeless (Sesshoumaru), banished (Zuko) and have nothing in common with romantic Disney princes.

Re: Top 10 Reasons Vegeta is My Favorite Character
Yeah, Vegeta is my second favourite character, after Piccolo. One of the main reasons I like him is that he probably has the greatest character development in the series. I think he was the best in the Namek arc, when he was sneaking around stealing Freeza's Dragon Balls, killing Kyui, Dodoria and Zarbon singlehandedly and generally being a badass. And the strange fact that although he's the kind of unlikeable guy who's a bastard in every way, he has charisma that makes you like how much of a jerk he is.

Re: Top 10 Reasons Vegeta is My Favorite Character
I like how arrogant he is. For the longest time, he was my favorite character as a kid. I loved his attitude and really liked that he became a "good guy" and stuck around the series after his fight with Goku. I was going through my whole, "I hate the main character and usually like the second main character best" phase, so I hated Goku until later on realized how much I really like Goku. Don't know what it was. But for the longest time as a kid (and by kid I mean like 9-11 years old) I was trying to convince myself that Vegeta was always stronger than Goku at every turn. Well now I realize he's not, but whatever. At this point I like Goku as my favorite character because I understand the character in a better way, but Vegeta still has a place in my heart

Re: Top 10 Reasons Vegeta is My Favorite Character

*replaces "My favorite character" with "Loveable"*
11. His relationship with Goku.
12. His son.
13. He can be funny at times.

14. His voice actor. Go Chris!
15. His way of expressing his shortcomings. *drum*
While I've had moments where I wished him dead a million times, I still like him. Because he gets what he deserves. And that raises a lot of sympathy, good writing on Akira's part.
Irreplaceable to say the least. (^_^)b

I remember that image! Never noticed how fun a pose that is. XDAhiru77 wrote:
Vegeta is SO much fun in the Namek arc (especially because you can't escape his wrath). I was kinda sad when achieving ssj went to his head during Cell. I think if it hadn't and he'd kept his cool strategic way of doing things from the previous arc I'd have liked the following one more. Buu arc Vegeta was just fun; him and those worms and him getting slime'd and his reaction to it...hell, the whole mini-adventure inside Buu he had with Goku was great imo.
Also, everyone's reaction to learning he has a brother and his reaction to having not bothered to ever tell anyone about it.
Re: Top 10 Reasons Vegeta is My Favorite Character
Vegeta during the Namek and early Buu arcs is the greatest character ever, for completely different reasons. Vegeta in the Cell arc is extremely irritating, although it completely makes sense.
Basically, Vegeta's at his best when he's a either a manipulative wild-card or being shoehorned into sitcom situations.

Re: Top 10 Reasons Vegeta is My Favorite Character
Personally, I prefer Namek Arc's Vegeta. He was sly and calculative, even though there were lots of enemies that outmatched him in strength.
If Namek Arc Vegeta was to decide in the Cell Arc, he would have withdrawn from his fight against Android 18, and then he would use the controller on her, and stomp her into tiny pieces.
Or when Cell killed Trunks, he wouldn't have reacted in such a reckless way. I remember that in the fight against Freeza, he was calculative and mostly attacked when Freeza was open, even though he was terrified at the moment.
Namek Arc Vegeta would never waste three days on a clifftop thinking things over. He would have found the enemies' weaknesses and destroyed them.

Re: Top 10 Reasons Vegeta is My Favorite Character
I agree with most of this. For example, in Vegeta's rematch with Zarbon, he knew that Zarbon, being too sure of himself from the last battle, would come at him off-guard, and then blinded him with dirt and took his opportunity to deal damage to him. A cheap trick, but a good way of exploting Zarbon's weakness.Godo wrote:Personally, I prefer Namek Arc's Vegeta. I don't think Vegeta would've withdrawn from his fight with #18. I think that would've looked cowardly to him, and Vegeta values his pride more than anything. I don't recall Vegeta ever withdrawing from fights before the Cell arc. You might be giving him a bit more credit than he deserves.
But didn't Goku say that Vegeta was starting to see beyond SSj when he was standing on that clifftop? So maybe he wasn't just "thinking things over", he was setting out a path for himself for surpassing Super Saiyan. And I don't think the Artificial Humans and Cell even had a weakness. The only way of beating them was to surpass SSj.

But Cell Arc Vegeta did just that, didn't he? Wasn't it Vegeta's idea to ascend past Super Saiyan?Godo wrote: Namek Arc Vegeta would never waste three days on a clifftop thinking things over. He would have found the enemies' weaknesses and destroyed them.

Re: Top 10 Reasons Vegeta is My Favorite Character
Vegeta and Cell should have a had a tea party to discuss his completion. Well in a sense that's what happened (Without the tea
).

Re: Top 10 Reasons Vegeta is My Favorite Character
1. His pride is both his greatest strength and greatest weakness.
2. The most well developed character in dbz and the most complex
3. He hates kakarot lol. forming one of the greatest rivalries in anime/manga.
4. His transformations are badass and powerful.
5. Trains harder than anyone and never got the priveleges that Gohan and Goku got, like Mystic and Otherworld training. If Vegeta got the same training Goku did, and turned Mystic, he would be the strongest.
6. Master tactician and warrior. Has some of the best battles in DBZ, like his fight with the z fighters on earth, Zarbon, Recoome, 19, Cell, ssj2 Goku, Kid Buu.
7. Funny as hell. "I'm a warrior not a variety of flower".
8. Has some of the best lines in dbz ("does a machine experience fear", "the sleeper has awoken. i am the prince of all Saiyans once again" "FINAL FLAAASH")
9. Final Flash. C'mon that scene was ace.
10. His attitude of "I dont take no shit from anyone. I work for myself alone."

Simian upstart...none surpass me. No one even comes close! BURN THIS INTO YOUR MIND! I am emperor of the universe. The likes of you are only fit to grovel at my feet. Or better still...to be crushed...LIKE AN INSECT AT THE WHIM OF YOUR MASTER!
