Re: The "Launch" of the Japanese Dragon Boxes!
It's a goofy idea, but I might be for it depending on how quickly you want to speed through it. Besides, I haven't watched the boxes from beginning to end either (I mean, come on, GT is GT
).

Re: Toonami's back? Well.. Sort Of...The Dragon Ball "Kick Off!"
I have all of it in some form or another, but I'm still watching Dbox 4 right now.
GT's the only thing I haven't seen in it's entirety.

Re: Toonami's back? Well.. Sort Of...The Dragon Ball "Kick Off!"
Actually, after I finished my DBZKai TV\DVD comparisons in August, I thought about starting a little project in February similar to this.
I was going to start kinda like a book club or support group, however you wanna look at it. We would watch an episode of DBGT each week. I was going to start the thread on February 7th, which was the first day DragonBall GT aired on Japanese TV. I felt like if we go through each week, and watch it on the days they originally aired every week, we might get a new found appreciation for it... or maybe not. But I thought it would be interesting.

That's a pretty cool idea.
I don't own Dragon Ball, though... Otherwise I'd have my friend Daryk watch it with me in Japanese. I own the 1995 dub, but it's so boring. Lol.

Are we not watching Kai together ?!

The title of the thread got me really excited....but I guess this is cool too

Re: Beginning-To-End Collaborative Viewing Party Thing Time Plan
I'd be all in for this if all of the Dragon Boxes were out, but since they're not I'll have to pass. I was already planning on doing that once the 7th box was released.
Re: Beginning-To-End Collaborative Viewing Party Thing Time Plan
I'll do it once Funi releases the rest of the Dragon Ball Kai DVD's. I don't like their previous dub efforts for DBZ (DragonBall was good though) and I also don't like listening to a bunch of Japanese people speak gibberish while I read along. I used to be content with the Z dub until I heard the Kai dub, but now I just can't go back.

I said I wouldn't watch GT in it's entirety until FUNi released a Dbox with subs, but maybe I'll join this as an excuse to finally get it out of the way for good.
Re: Beginning-To-End Collaborative Viewing Party Thing Time Plan
I highly doubt I'll be able to do this... but I certainly would like to... :-/

Re: Beginning-To-End Collaborative Viewing Party Thing Time Plan
Wow, excellent timing! I was just about to watch Dragon Ball from the beginning on my own. Sign me up! I suggest we watch episodes 1-14. That would be the first two discs of Season 1 of the blue bricks, which is what I think the majority of people will be watching on.

I think that a project like this would benefit from a little more organization.

Pretty much says it all.
A tip about how to do it:
Put a date and the names/numbers of the episodes that are going to be watched.
Don't exceed the amount of episodes so that everyone will manage to catch up.
Discuss the episodes and have a party in this thread.
Otherwise it will be a one-guy party all the way.
Re: Beginning-To-End Collaborative Viewing Party Thing Time Plan
Here's an example OP I put together. Sorry AnimeMaakuo if I'm stepping on your toes. I think something like this will persuade people to join in.

This is the official thread for the Dragon Ball Anime Viewing Club! We're going to be watching the entire Dragon Ball anime saga from start to finish. All the way to the end of GT. Join in and watch along with us!
We're Currently Watching..
Dragon Ball Episodes 1-14 (Found on Dragon Ball Season 1)
How it works
The episodes we'll be watching will change every two weeks. Feel free to talk about the episodes in this thread as you watch them, but don't skip ahead until the date listed!
Why not just watch them all on my own?
You'll get more enjoyment out of the series if you have others to discuss it with. Also, watching all of Dragon Ball, Z and GT is a pretty daunting task. Splitting it up means you will not burn out on it as quickly.
Should I watch it in Japanese/English/any other language?
Watch it in whatever language you want! Keep in mind that this is the Daizex forums, and emphasis is generally put on the Japanese version here. This is a good opportunity to discuss dialogue changes and other discrepancies between the many different versions.
Why split them up that way?
The end of a disc is naturally a good stopping point. It's generally a good idea to stop at the end of a season. This is in case someone doesn't own the next season, They will have time to buy/borrow/netflix it. I am assuming most people will be watching the Blue Bricks. However, when we get to Dragon Ball Z, This might be changed to accomodate for the Dragon Box discs, depending on what people want.
Is this thread really going to make it to the end of GT?
Maybe. If people stay interested in it, it may very well make it to the end. This is a group effort, so as long as people want to continue, so shall this thread.
Schedule
