Doubling Up.... Worth it?
I am currently up sizing my Dragon Ball collection, mostly DVD & Blu-ray. Which leads me to my Question.... How do you guys feel about "Doubling up" on DB releases.
I know a few fans out there want world domination when it comes to owning every release known to man, dating as far back as VHS and that obviously results in doubling... well... more like quadrupling up. But how do the rest of you guys feel about it? Does it happen a lot? Try to avoid it?
I'm considering buying steel-book & blu-ray releases of the movies and on top of that keeping in mind that FUNI could PoSsIbLy release Dragonbox movies, I know I wont be gaining much by doing this but it's just a thought.

Re: Doubling Up.... Worth it?
I don't particularly like owning two of the same thing, but there can be good reasons to do so. For me, I've got FUNi's 1995 dub of Dragon Ball (The Saga of Goku) and Geneon's dub of the first three DBZ movies (Uncut Movie Trilogy), and I also hope to get the box sets for FUNi's 1996 dub of DBZ, and the uncut box sets they released for the rest of DBZ. I already own the Dragon Box Z sets FUNi's been releasing, so I'd have DBZ twice, but the two releases are very different. I think it would be cool to have the original English dub (before the "Season" Set fix-ups). As for the Geneon dub of the movies, I tend to watch those movies in English more than Japanese just because it's actually done well, so there's no way I'd get rid of them when I get the Dragon Box the Movies.

As someone who only recently started picking up DVDs for Dragon Ball (Before the Dragon Boxes, I only owned the manga) I'm sure glad I didn't have to re-buy the entire series. But now that I've picked up the blue bricks and a few of the movies, if FUNi releases the Dragon Boxes for those, I think I wouldn't particularly mind. However, for comparison, I don't think I'd bother picking up the Blu-ray releases for those same movies.

Re: Doubling Up.... Worth it?
You kind of run into this issue over the years inevitably. Especially if you have one interest (Dragon Ball) consistently for years, you'll find yourself probably buying duplicates of the same thing across each new media playing device... much the same way with people who have a bunch of iPods, game systems, and the like.
However, CD's seem to be the only consistent thing here. The quality on them is good enough for me... I've always thought that a cartoon in high enough quality would start just looking like pieces of paper, showing artifacts on the cells and whatnot. I mean, really, I'm not really that interested in seeing the series look BRAND NEW HD OMG, it would be cool, but this is a serious that ended over a decade ago, so I'm not that worried about the quality of it.
I'm happy with blu-rays... they aren't noticeably better looking than DVD's, but there's far less consumption, so to avoid brick-sized season sets.

Thanks for the insight guys, makes me feel good that I'm not the only to soon have the feeling of spending time and money on a never ending battle
helps… especially the topic of the Z movies, I have heard that the comparison between the DVD and Blu-ray isn't great and in fact the DVD is preferred.
I defiantly think there is an advantage of owning more than one different release of the series, whether it is DB, DBZ or DBGT, especially when rarity is thrown into the mix and with Constant releasing.... How could there not be?
The whole “FUNI finally gets it right” with the Dragon box wont make the slightest difference in the decision to release the entire series yet again.
