Budokai 3 is quite simply, the worst piece of crap I have ever had the misfortune of playing. Bar none.
It's simply Budokai 2, what has driven you all to play it and fully complete it 100%? The voice acting was enough to just put me off.
Side note, the opening introduction was even worse than what was in Budokai 2, I have to skip it each time it is that bad!

As I haven't played the game myself, I'll ignore the first two comments.

What's so bad about the intro theme? It's classic-feel DBZ theme music. It's great for the nostalgia value alone, if nothing else.Dominator wrote:Side note, the opening introduction was even worse than what was in Budokai 2, I have to skip it each time it is that bad!

Budoukai 3 is easily the best Budoukai thus far, at least in terms of gameplay, and so it seems a little silly to judge it as the worst piece of crap you've ever played, unless the only game you've ever played is Kirby Super Star Deluxe. Now THAT game fucking ROCKED.
The presentation is pretty awesome. That's all I'll say about that.
I thought the teleportation ability, base-line ki, and Dragon Rush systems gave the series a much needed boost of speed. Also, the characters were given more original basic moves, such as Piccolo's perverse stretching limbs, Goku's power pole, and Freeza's tail, and a variety of particuliar special moves, which definately rid the gameplay of the intense monotony of previous entries in the Budoukai line.
One might say that the characters need more special attacks, but I'll argue that this game serves as more of a cross between the counter-heavy nature of Soul Calibre 2 and the fast-paced, easy-to-pick-up-and-play simplicity of Super Smash Bros. It's entirely up to you whether this game can even compete with those two games, but this brings me to my next point.
Atari specifically addressed the fact that this game is not designed for fans of fighting games, but for fans of Dragonball, and I feel that they've done an excellent job in attempting to turn the charm of the series into a game. It's not perfect, but it's the best yet, and in my opinion, a great game. I also feel it's completely undeserving of the disrespect given by game magazine writers (OPM, EGM, PSM, etc) who make it their GOD-GIVEN MISSION to let us know they hate Dragonball when reviewing EVERY DBZ game. Hell, EGM didn't even bother reviewing Budoukai 3, perhaps out of fear of having to actually complement its advances in gameplay.
Now, I'm not trying to shoot anyone down, but I'd just like to show my side, and perhaps the represent the case for those who might agree with me. I'd just like to know, Dominator, what you have against it, other than its intro. Why all the hate?

Gotta agree with you there about PSM, had their review for a while but was really dissapointed they didn't give it a higher rating. Heck they gave Budokai 2 a 7 out of 10 but Budokai 3 got a 6 out of 10 ?. That really does not make any sense because Budokai 3 is much superior to it's first 2 games. Then again they are other game reviewing companies that gave Budokai 3 the praise it deserved ( Gamepro, IGN, Gamespot & Gamespy).oponok wrote:Atari specifically addressed the fact that this game is not designed for fans of fighting games, but for fans of Dragonball, and I feel that they've done an excellent job in attempting to turn the charm of the series into a game. I actually got Catwoman today and it's not as bad as everyone says it is. Of course, by no means is it a great, or even good game.
There are a LOT of crappy games out there, and Budokai isn't on the list.

Battle High 2, starring Kyle Hebert as well as myself, has been released on Xbox 360, OUYA, PC, Linux, Mac, and Xbox One!

Or Final Bout. *cringes*You obviously haven't played Ultimate Battle 22 yet...
Anyway... when I think of a bad game, I think of some of the older Batman titles, as well as a few Jurassic Park titles, not Budokai. Hell games like Van Helsing, and Lufia: The Ruins of Lore make Budokai 3 (and it's flaws) look like a masterpiece.
One that just came to mind would be Baten Kaitos... while not horrible, the card battle system alienates people who aren't used too, or don't care for that style of gameplay. One might even put Budokai 2 in the long list of 'bad' titles, though it's not entirely bad, I'd say similarly to Baten Kaitos, the board game story mode potentially alienates some people who don't care for that sort of thing... I know I didn't too much care for it, but it wasn't a total loss.
Well... that's my two cents.

I can beat them all.
Taiketsu.
I dare you to defy me.
Anyway, B3 rocks in my opinion. Especially in comparison to B2, which I really only play for the fusions anymore.
Basically, I fail to see what, exactly, makes it the worse game. Unless, like oponok (holy crap, I'm agreeing with him) said, you've only played a kickass game and think of others as below you.
... Bad joke.

Night Trap.
Or maybe a few old Nintendo titles could do the trick?
Adventures of Bayou Billy? Back to the Future? Bad Dudes? Friday the 13th? Festers Quest? Ghostbusters 2? JAWS??
Need I go on?
Hey... for good measure how about the Halloween game, and the Jason game for the Atari? Those are bad enough...
...But wait, theres more... the king of all bad games is ET! for the Atari!!
Steer clear of rummage sales with these titles.

I fucking OWN E.T. for Atari. Booyah.
Anyway, Budokai 3 isn't as fun as Budokai 2, but I like the character roster.
The reason I don't like playing it is fucking Dragon Rush or whatever it is. The computer does this on a whim, and although there are patterns in their button presses, they're so hard to stop without losing a chunk of your life. The game essentially just becomes a race to see who can get their Dragon Rush off first and most often.

Uh huh... I'm loving the game, actually. Not just the obvious comments about the beautiful places, either. Anyway, I've never played any games with a card-style battle system before, and I'll say it's a little weird, for sure. But it's enjoyable, same as the Budokai board game thing (although I had that sort of experience plenty of times already with Mario Party). And it's unique too, with cards that change over time- I do hate it when my cards rot or otherwise get worse, though...lost in thought wrote:One that just came to mind would be Baten Kaitos... while not horrible, the card battle system alienates people who aren't used too, or don't care for that style of gameplay.

WHY THE HELL WAS "M.U.S.C.L.E." ON THAT LIST?! That was one of the best games on "99 Games in 1!" dagnabbit!!Zackarotto wrote:How about Deadly Towers?
The best being Arkanoid, second being that Tank game.

I also thought the intro was charming.
I also don't think Dragon Rush is THAT BAD, especially if you have a skilled human opponent to play against, which can kind of make it fun. And come on: what's more awesome than starting a Dragon Rush with a Final Shine, and finishing the whole thing with a Final Flash for over 3,200 damage?
I ask you WHAT?!

Hahaha... well, I have to say that Seanbaby's old stuff wasn't quite as good as it is now, but... that seems like one damn shitty collection of games.Dayspring wrote:WHY THE HELL WAS "M.U.S.C.L.E."
