Something Annoying about Movie 8

While movie 8 is my favourite movie, something bugs me every time I watch it: The Final Fight. It starts off fine (That first punch was brilliant!), but after a well done Super Saiyan transformation the writers feel they have to end the movie as quickly as possible. So in the end we get a one sided fight in which Cooler does less damage than Freeza . Even the Super Nova struggle was too short . The end of the movie leaves me thinking, "Wait, isn't Cooler suppose to be Freeza's older, more powerful brother? It's flat out stated in the movie (Japanese version), so why didn't Cooler put up more of a fight." (Yes, I'm aware that this is supposedly Artificial Human Arc Goku, but still ). A bit ant-climatic if you ask me. I also wish they could've done more with the whole Cooler, Freeza relationship and perhaps a few more references to the Goku vs. Freeza fight on Namek.

Last time I watched Movie 5 was around 2 years ago. Despite feeling ill at the time I really enjoyed it, mainly for how everything came together. The relaxing and calm music that plays as Coola is blasted into space, flying toward the sun fast, as he thinks to himself "I should of killed him when I had the chance"... Toei done a damn good job there.

The movie mirrors the fight beetween Goku and Freeza. Once Goku goes Super Saiyan, he ends the fight pretty quick, compared to the amount of chapters it took before he become Super Saiyan.

So, if you reduce that to a movie lenght, of course you will watch Goku as a Super Saiyan for just a few minutes.

This movie was the best one by far. Also truly introduces us to the almighty TOEI HAX. The implications of this movie have driven fans far and wide absolutley nuts.

As Cooler begins to power up, Goku claims, He's stronger than Freeza. Now since Goku didn't utter this before, Cooler previously was not stronger than his brother. Although he fights awfully well against someone Cooler thinks would beat Freeza. IMO this implies they should roughly be equals. A slight edge to Freeza....

Now on to the fun stuff. The rest of their fight is nearly a copy/paste of Goku vs Freeza. Instead of Cooler going up to 50% of his power in his true form, Cooler instead transforms. And the battle ensues. One would think that Goku is using KKx10 to fight Cooler, and then finally uses Kaioken x20 for the Kamehameha. Which Cooler flys through in one of the biggest Holy Shit! moments in all of DB. So if you take the standard POV that it's just copy paste off of Goku Freeza, then you are starting to get to some really high numbers. SSJ Goku is much stronger than Final Form Cooler, but his SuperNova is able to give Goku much trouble...

Now people generally do not like this. But what can we do? If Goku was only using Kaioken for the fight maybe you have something. But then Goku goes SSJ again, and FF Cooler although inferior, is still able to effect him. Using a 5x boost for no apparent reason doesn't really seem to logical either.



Also Cooler is seen sneaking up on Piccolo/ Goku and is also able to read Goku's Base Power. Which means Cooler is implied to be able to suppress his ki, as well as sense others ki. Which compared to the other villians in the Freeza Saga, is a huge feat.



Anyway, this is by far my favorite movie out of the bunch. Just wanted to hear some others thoughts on this.

Are we sure they weren't missing a zero on the end of the FF number. Don't know if that's 100% confirmed, but from what I have heard these were VJUMPS number for Cooler.

Wrong. Freeza stays in his first form all the time, and had never had to go above his second form before. Goku in base is stronger not only than those two forms, but also the third. Cooler believes Goku caught Freeza by surprise and killed him before he could transform enough to overpower the Saiyan.

Because when Coola is confident in killing the Super Saiyan that overpowered his brother -- he's only keeping Freeza's most suppressed form in mind, and not just "Freeza."

Goku stalling for 90% of the movie before transforming to Super Saiyan was great...not.

Akira Toriyama -- wastes no time, manga moves at blitzkrieg speed.

Why do you even try to determine battle powers of a filler battle?

Cooler fight Goku while he is not a Super Saiyan because the animators thinks it is cool. They do not care about power logic like Toriyama does.


If the animators wanted Videl could fight Broly... wait, that did happen!!

Broly battle power:

As shown in the battle against Oolong, Goku (battle power = 10) can break several stones with a finger. Mr. Satan fail to destroy tiles with his hand in a karate move. So let's put Videl with a battle power of 7.

However Broly survived a blank shot of Full Power Super Saiyan Goku!!!

This makes Broly: higher than 10 billion and lower than 7

It is said (the source is questionable yet, there is no scan or so) that he is 470,000,000. 140,000,000 was never listed, that's pure fan guessing.

Also, it's unknow whenever 470 million is the final form, ultimate form or mecha form...

p123, can't you post anything Dragonball related without turn to battle powers? It is absolutely annoying!

Anyway, I too would prefer that Coola fought evenly with Super Saiyan Goku, since he is stronger than Freeza, but the movies mimic the main storyline. Heck, this film pretty much mimics the entire Namek/Freeza arc.
