Why all the hate with Kai??

So, I almost always go and check Db Clips on youtube, be it DB, DBZ, DBGT or DBKAI

And many people just keep hating on Kai and picking up with the most single detail, ever since Kai began it´s been the spotlight for hate.

Worst of all, For all I know only dbz has gotten this "Kai" Treatment while Dbz had some good filler, I´ve not found them so terrible (only that they are kind of an insult to the manga which is fast paced and Some fillers make horrible plotholes), not like other anime which really need a "Kai" Service right away like "THE EMPEROR OF FILLER" Naruto, and they say bleach (haven't watched it too much). Their fans would kill for their Anime to be treated like this and yet db fans just criticize the hell out of it.

By "Tards" I mean they don´t reason when talking about their preferences.

I´ve come across of stupid comments like "Faulconer makes dbz, it´s freaking athmospheric, Damn you bruce you are so epic, Kai simply sucks because there´s no faulconer"

Also "THAT FREAKING FRIEZA SOUNDS LIKE A HOMOSEXUAL LINDA YOUNG DID SOOO SO MUCH BETTER CHRIS AYRES DOESN´T EVEN TRY" And you all guys know that´s not true... They also complain about Zarbon doesn´t sounding Gay, Jeice isn´t australian, Gohan beign Voice like a true child not like a guy in drugs and blah blah blah.

Also the Freaking "I WANT NEW ANIMATION"
Well... It amazes me they wanted new animation yet Plan to eradicate the Super Saiyans came and I got comments like " OMG This Sucks Original FTW"... so... I say people WHAT THE F*CK!!!) (Sorry for that) In what kind of joke we live in?


And in my opinion the worst insult to Kai is to downgrade it´s music and Voice acting (english dub) with Original Z and American, I am an open minded person, I love Original japanese music, Bruce Faulconer Music, and My favorite is Kai, I know they all have their pros and Cons but To downgrade Kai to a mere garbage in front of any of those 2... that´s a freaking Insults

So guys, what do you think about this problem? Why is Kai so hated? Why is it beign Treated Worse than Dragonball Evolution??? Kai is part of the Db franchise and I think it deserves a little respect.

So I hope you guys can make me understand what the hell is happening here. (and calm me down on the process becaused I´m PISSED!!)

Exactly. It's the same reason people like the Japanese verison of Dragon Ball Z better than the manga or Kai, they have nostalgia and it blinds them from how much better the other versions are.

It is ridiculous and it's like it's almost the end of the world to them. It's not like Kai is becoming the only version avaliable, the original can still be found in multiple releases very cheap practically anywhere so they should really just zip it and live with it.

Someone has even made a group on Youtube called DBKaiSucks, surprised too that it even has subscribers. Usually I don't have problems with nostalgia, there's stuff out there I still have soft spot for but it's not like it's the only way I love it. In cases like these, I usually refer to it as the "Dark Side" of Nostalgia where a person becomes so consumed it makes them ignorant to everything else.

But what really bothers me when it comes to this is when they bash the dub and say the original Z dub is better, just because it's 'what they grew up with'. In reality, the Z dub has no competition against the Kai dub, so it's just whining again.

I can understand the nay-sayers in some ways. It is basically "Z" repackaged with an slightly more generic musical score. If Kai truly was a "new" series and got completely "new" animation, I think there'd be much less nay-saying all around. All in all (outside of Youtube), the consensus of the series seems to be positive from what I've read/heard (outside of vocals & music.)

I think the main problem is that Funimation haven't properly explained what Kai is. People think ZKai was something Funimation did by themselves and believe the Nicktoons version is the only version of Kai which leads people to believe that there is no blood in Kai.

I'm not nearly as put off by Kai as I once was, but I still don't enjoy it very much. Its frankenstein style of mixing and matching scenes from a twenty-year-old anime is smooth at best, but jarring and distracting at its worst. Its soundtrack is generic hero fare which doesn't capture the B-movie kung-fu vibe of the original, and I feel that's an essential part of the show. Its pacing, while it's improved over the run, is sometimes as awkward as Z's, if in an opposite way. Overall, I'm tolerant of it, but I still struggle through each episode I've watched. I've given it a fair chance as well.

I think what AoiKage was getting at, is that people are saying that Kai sucks. It's fine if you don't like it but you can't deny it's fixed a few of issues, especially for the English dub. Just because you don't like something doesn't mean it sucks.

That makes a lot of sense to me, many people get too blinded with nostalgia, I know Z is very important to all of us because of it, it remembers us to our childhood and I know some people will Just Like it better because of that, I can understand it and respect it.

My Issue:
As we said, People get too blinded to even think of one good thing about Kai (or for example original japanese version for Faulconer-Tards (again TARDS, this is not for Faulconer Fans) and they go too far with their hate, Just Like BluezaBladeNZ said, it´s like they think Kai will become the only Dbz version out there, and it´s disgusting and most of the time, These people are not even civilized, how can I respect someone who insults me at sight of a good comment to Kai, or if we´re in an argument can´t can´t try and be civilized with his answers, I know this Dbkaisucks and it saddens me that he even has subcribers, the guy has me on his "dbkai fanboys" list, and I would care less if he just liked dbz better and respected the ones who liked Kai better, but the 95% of the guys who don´t really like Kai have a really short fuse and they really need to clean their mouths.

Also I agree with Piccolo Daimaoh, If they changed all my favorite voices (and they have) I would hate Kai (I won´t hate it yet XD I first need to watch it), like the freaking Latino version is not gonna have original voice actors, If they would be better, I would get over it while time passes, but almost all of the Z original voice actors are the best voice actors of Latino America, they got years of experience and a lot of charisma. if they changed some voices, not all of them, it would be diferent and I would eventually get over it. But complaining about every single detail is not gonna take me anywhere.

From What I´ve read in this thread, We all understand that, we´re not talking about "WHY PEOPLE DISLIKE KAI" We´re Discussing "WHY ALL THE HATE?" there´s a whole lot of diference between Dislike and Hate, and there´s a whole lot of difference expressing your dislikes about the series like a civilized polite person, and acting like a baboon showing your teeth at another one enlarging the problem an outrageous amount times. And we are discussing about that too. Our main problem is that, I don´t care if one likes dbz better than Kai, I do care when they go over the top with their hate

And everyone needs to learn about Life, no one knows it all, not even the smartest person alive, Not even Your or Me.


Now Answering to Cipher, I understand your problems with it and Respect your opinion, but I have to say you just confirmed what are discussing. people downgrade too much in comparation to the original calling it generic.

Let´s see, what is generic? Something you can easily find everywhere, not out of the ordinary.
From what I see, it can also be used to call something bad.

Is Kai´s Score really generic? Of course not, I haven´t found any other anime that has the same exact arrangement or style of composition of Kai, comparing it to other popular anime out there...

Naruto = Doesn´t Doesnt Even sound like it

One Piece = One piece doesn't sound like Naruto, Kai is a bit closer too One piece´s style but it´s not the same still,

Bleach = C'mon, bleach definitely doesn´t sound like any of these 3 (dragonball kai, one piece or naruto)

Pokemon = Aside the fact that they both use March percussion in a lot of compositions, they are not even alike.

Now, The particular BANG of Air Instruments, percussion and strings in Kai is very constant, in many Tracks of all 3 Soundtracks. now everytime I hear the BANG in another score I instantly remember Kai, I think that makes it a whole less generic.

But now... I'm not trying to bash Original japanese, but Original japanese sounds the same as Every other Kikuchi Score, Kikuchi doesn´t even change his style from anime to another anime, Dragonball Z Buu saga sounds the same as Tenchi in Tokyo, Of course he´s a genius at db, some of his compositions are true masterpieces.... but since a whole lot of old mecha-anime scored by kikuchi, and well to be straight all anime scored by kikuchi... they sound the same, Doesn´t that make Db Score kinda generic?

I respect your opinion, but calling Kai´s Score generic is a bad thing, especially when it´s not generic, it´s a very rich score specially "Dragonball Kai Soundtrack III & Songs)

Yes because cutting down about 19 episodes of the Freeza fight is definitely a bad thing. I wasn't just saying it's better for the English audience, but for everybody. Kai's best point is that it's cut down the very slow pacing of Z, albeit not in the smoothest way. Personally I think the pros outweigh the cons for Kai.

That´s great to know, I don´t bitter myself to death, I try to see the goodness in every db version I actually watch (Latino, Funimation, Japanese) and Kai is not the exception, actually it´s my favorite Just because there´s no filler and there´s great music but I like Shunsuke Kikuchi and Faulconer too (Japanese fans may not agree, but there´s actually some pretty good compositions by faulconer).

I agree, I love Kai´s Audio Quality, both english and japanese are great, I don´t say original japanese had bad audio, can´t ask much for a mono track, it was pretty decent by it´s time I think.

Don't understand the claim that Kai's music is generic, at all. Granted, I don't watch any anime outside of Dragon Ball, but it seems that a good chunk of the music has been greatly "influenced" from the scores of a number of different major motion pictures. That's probably why I like have enjoyed the music so much.
