Quick question about zenkai.
Erm, what is it?
I've seen this term around the forums several times, though I have absolutely no idea what it is/could possibly be. Even when looking at the context. So could someone explain zenkai to me?

Air is only important when you don't have any.
Re: Quick question about zenkai.
Zenkai is a slang term for near death power up. Saiyans recovering from serious injuries get stronger.
Rocketman wrote:"Shonen" basically means "stupid sentimental shit" anyway, so it's ok to be anti-shonen.

Re: Quick question about zenkai.
It's a lazy way of describing the power-up Saiyans receive when they're healed from the brink of death.
Re: Quick question about zenkai.
Vegeta also often talked about getting stronger after every battle. Wouldn't you consider that some type of zenkai boost since Saiyans probably benefit from your average battle much more than anyone else?

Re: Quick question about zenkai.
Why, it's short for "Detekoi Tobikiri ZENKAI power," the first ending theme to DBZ, of course!
Yeah, it's a term that's been applied to a Saiyan power-up, but it is not an official term.

Re: Quick question about zenkai.
Here's a thread from 2006 that I point to often when this comes up:

I'm actually shocked that we were noticing it sometime around 2005-2006. I could have sworn it was more recent that that. Someone please stop this whole "aging process" thing that we humans do.

This may help you understand it in a different way: Divine Combat - Zenkai Power
Please keep in mind that it is still a rough draft and subject to change. It has not been edited yet. I just thought people might like to read it ahead of time because it's a cool topic.
