Interesting Anime Labs Quotes

Post by Mike D » Sun Mar 13, 2005 11:36 pm

Couldn't help myself.

I don't know if this has been done already but, I just want to see if anyone has found any "interesting" quotes that AnimeLabs threw at us.

"It takes a lot of balls to come back to life half-dead in a tin can."

-Mirai Trunks (to Frieza)

Just for the sake of being complete about it, let's directly compare quotes... Anime Labs vs Steve! I don't have my fansubs on me, so I'm not completely sure about the syntax with the basic grammar, and all, but it's pretty damn well close.

ANIME LABS:
"It takes a lot of balls to come back to life half-dead in a tin can, just to be killed."

STEVE SIMMONS:
"Having been reduced to that ridiculous form, it must have taken a lot of nerve coming all the way to Earth, just so you could be killed."

ANIME LABS:
"Come out, you candy-ass-faggot!"

STEVE SIMMONS:
"Where are you? Come on out! You coward!"

Anyone remember Vejiita's direct quote from his intro in movie #13? It has to do with Hildegarn trashing his house or something.

Wasn't that one in an Ask VegettoEX, both the quote and actual translation?

From the Anime Labs fansub, I also recall seeing a screencap of Nappa and Goku dropping the F-bomb each.

In Anime Labs' script for DBZ episode 96, Goku uses the phrase "piece of shit." This is actually one of the *only* times I'd allow it, too :P.

Goku has literally just turned Super Saiya-jin, and it's obvious he's pretty darn well peeved. He's not quite in control of himself and his anger. The phrase he uses is "kono kusoyaro"... which can almost quite literally mean "you piece of shit" (somewhat... "kuso" is a moderate/high expletive along the lines of "crap/damn/shit"), and "yaro" is slang for "man" or "guy").

At the same time, I can't really picture Goku using flat-out FOUL LANGUAGE... I doubt he even knows those words. But yeah :D.

ANIME LABS:
"Cut it out, you piece of shit."

STEVE SIMMONS:
"Enough is enough, you scumbag."

And on a completely unrelated note to the script... man... this episode has always been my favorite example of a shitty animation day :P.

"Takes a lot of balls" he says? After having lost his entire lower body?

Alas, I have either discovered a subconcious pun, or am just the last one to realize an obvious joke.

What? The fact that Frieza lost his lower body, or the fact that he really doesnt have balls?

A good portion of DBZ had sketchy animation.

Maybe we need a new guide...Fansub Dialogue vs Actual Dialogue.

Hmm... there wouldn't really be much demand for something like that... and it would probably promote fansubs, or something...

Eh. We have enough guides already. This is a great topic, though.

*gasp* I created a great topic for once.

*prances around like a biatch*

Err-why types of things do you think Funimation will have Pikuhan screaming to those blobs in movie 12? As a matter of fact, what did he really say?

I'm sure it wasn't:

"SUCK MY DICK!!!"

Really it was capitalized like that.

and "yaro" is slang for "man" or "guy").
I've always seen it translated as "bastard", even in Japanese dictionaries.

I've never seen any AnimeLab subs, but remember the infamous "shi ne" = "fuck you" subtitles I refrenced in this board previously? Pure gold.

Jerseymilk: "Can I tell you something?"
B-kun: "What?"
Jerseymilk: "I see Fangirls."

The version I saw had him say:
"You f*****g bastard! How dare you destroy my house!"
(or something like that)

He then says:
"F**K YOU!"
a few seconds later when he charges in to attack.

(I'm not 100% sure on the forum's thoughts on the F word so I decided to censor it. Plus I don't really like using it unless I'm in a very bad mood.)

Umm... this has already been addressed.

(sacks Caracal)
Oops... I think I broke him.

Anyway, just how many fandubbing circles are there? I swear I've seen like twenty different fandubs just on DB alone.
