[SPECULATION!!] Dragonball Kai: Boo Arc Movie
If Dragonball Kai didn't continue on to make the entire Boo arc and instead made it into a Kai movie that would run around the average length of your longer Dragonball movies, how would it be paced? What would be included? What would be omitted? Would the animation be re-cut like Kai or would it be completely new like the Jump Special? I know it's a long arc, but the events from the tournament until Boo being killed by the Spirit Bomb are supposed to take place over a period of a day or two. I'm sure it could be streamlined and it could still make sense.
How would you do it?

I would love if they just re-made all the arc's into movies with new animation like they did with Path to Power. I mean, that was the 10th Anniversary movie, so why not do the same for this Anniversary? Missed opportunity.Kendamu wrote:...Would the animation be re-cut like Kai or would it be completely new...

This February is the Dragon Ball anime's twenty-fifth anniversary. Why a twenty-fifth anniversary film didn't come out I don't know.Tanooki Kuribo wrote:I would love if they just re-made all the arc's into movies with new animation like they did with Path to Power. Well, besides the whole "Kai not doing well" thing.

I've been saying that for quite awhile, too, but I figure why not be more specific and talk about an arc that's on our minds.Tanooki Kuribo wrote:I would love if they just re-made all the arc's into movies with new animation like they did with Path to Power. Re: [SPECULATION!!] Dragonball Kai: Boo Arc Movie
Well, I guess all signs point to a downfall in sales and popularity of the franchise in Japan. Which leads me to doubt the possibilities of an entirely new animated movie. I honestly feel like Toei still has a chance to keep producing footage for the remainder of the series for the international markets. With over 10 countries airing or getting ready to air the series, that seems like a whole lotta licensing dough to miss out on, especially with such inexpensive production costs. With no concrete evidence the show will be canceled, the potential of an international version (wild speculation), and the uninspiring sales numbers in the homeland, I just really can't see an animated movie to finish the show at this point in time.
It's a wasted opportunity, but there is a lot about Dragon Ball Kai that has been a wasted opportunity. They might as well have called it Dragon Ball WO.

Re: [SPECULATION!!] Dragonball Kai: Boo Arc Movie
This is the anime's 25th anniversary? What awful timing!
Yeah, I kind of have that feeling that DB's on a downward fade-away/break-time with how things have been lately. I would not be surprised (though I would be disappointed) if Kai ends with Cell. Newly dubbed episodes are still coming out abroad though, so I think it'll take a year or so for the impact to be fully felt outside Japan.
I'm not sure how I feel about the idea of DB news disappearing for however long it'll be yet. I guess I'll wait til we find out what's up with Kai and the Buu arc.
More OT though; I'd love a Buu arc movie. I'd love a new 2-D DB movie in general, but I don't think it's gonna happen.
If this was even a year ago I'd say "Yeah, it's possible." but now I don't know.
I can't even say with certainty if Ultimate Butoden will get an English port for the U.S. and Europe.
Though if there were to a be a movie for Buu, I'd want it to be done by the staff who worked on the Jump Special; the animation there was wonderful!

Hate to be a bummer (sometimes), but I really don't see this happening. They'll either do the Buu arc for the TV series or not.

But he's also a fighter, through and through [...] he fight until he has, in no uncertain terms, beaten his enemy on terms they can both acknowledge. He doesn't want to kill anyone, or even prove that he can win... he just wants to know he can. He's an ineffably charming bastard who's manly leanings were really incendental, and yes, the fact that he was voiced by a squeaky woman made the combination perhaps all the more charming.

We got the whole series again, thats far better than just a movie.Tanooki Kuribo wrote:I would love if they just re-made all the arc's into movies with new animation like they did with Path to Power. No, we got literally less than a 4th of the series again.

Re: [SPECULATION!!] Dragonball Kai: Boo Arc Movie
This would be the first new Dragonball thing I'd be genuinely excited about. I think a shortened version of the Boo arc could only do it favors. I doubt it would happen but I'd be very interested in seeing how something like this could turn out. I think the Boo arc in this format I could really enjoy.
Edit: The more I think about this the more psyched I get. I may just have to bust out the ol' video editing software.

Okay. That's neat, but my question was more meant to be along the lines of, "If it happened, what would you like to see?" The specifics are in the original post.

This paranoia again? The Boo arc is going to be shown, just be patient. I don't think we need to be freaking out until episode 98 airs. If it doesn't show a preview then were screwed. Until then, the new Kai video game for the DS pretty much confirms the Majin Boo arc's existence just be having it in the game.

That doesn't mean anything. The "Illusion Saiyans" from filler material are included in a "Kai"-branded line of figures, despite never appearing in "Kai".andrewtuell1991 wrote:Until then, the new Kai video game for the DS pretty much confirms the Majin Boo arc's existence just be having it in the game.
Everything for the series is branded as "Kai" right now -- it doesn't mean a lick of anything.

Re: [SPECULATION!!] Dragonball Kai: Boo Arc Movie
I don't see this happening with the use of the existing Z footage. If they went the 10th Anniversary Dragonball Movie route, maybe, but it seems like they're not up for that at this time. If anything I'd be okay with just the Buu arc getting the Kai treatment in general, but obviously, we'll see.

Why would Kai do well? It's the same damn thing as DBZ, except rushed. If the intent was to keep DBZ alive, release some new shit.

Well, Dragon Ball Kai's bringing in a new, younger audience to the series. And I suppose FUNimation's English dub has support from people who want to see it done right this time. Perhaps that's what they were going for.mystic trunks wrote:Why would Kai do well? It's the same damn thing as DBZ, except rushed. If the intent was to keep DBZ alive, release some new shit.

Dragon Ball Z brought in new fans for multiple generations for twenty years before Dragon Ball Kai appeared..Piccolo Daimao wrote:Well, Dragon Ball Kai's bringing in a new, younger audience to the series. Re: [SPECULATION!!] Dragonball Kai: Boo Arc Movie
That doesn't apply to the second part of the appeal, the English dub-related one. I'm going to be wholeheartedly disappointed if the Boo arc, my favorite chunk of Z, ends up excluded from the good-dub treatment that Kai has brought. I'm sure I'm not the only one.JulieYBM wrote:Dragon Ball Z brought in new fans for multiple generations for twenty years before Dragon Ball Kai appeared...

You're right. I guess what I'm saying is that while Toei are milking the cash cow again, it means DBZ's back on TV, meaning it's being introduced to a new generation of people. Just look at the Nicktoons forum.JulieYBM wrote:Dragon Ball Z brought in new fans for multiple generations for twenty years before Dragon Ball Kai appeared..Piccolo Daimao wrote:Well, Dragon Ball Kai's bringing in a new, younger audience to the series. Re: [SPECULATION!!] Dragonball Kai: Boo Arc Movie
As much as I would like to see Kai continue in some shape or form, I don't think a movie would be good. The arc is too long to fit into one movie, we don't want another One Piece Movie: 8.
If you cut it too much it could make the film feel rushed or be hard to follow with all of those corners cut. However, if the movie is too long it will feel dragged out or painful to sit through. It would be a challenge to cut that arc into one movie. A better idea would be to split it up into two or more movies. The only problem is that, who knows if there will be enough interest. They could always release OVAs of it.
