Dragonball Z Ocean Group Unreleased score project(108-276)

Post by dbzforeverUK » Sun Feb 20, 2011 4:03 pm

As many of you know, back in 2000 Ocean did a dub of Dragonball Z which included BGM from the Monster Rancher and Megaman series. These soundtracks were produced by Tom Keenlyside, John Mitchell & David Iris. For unknown reasons a score was never released onto CD which is why I am asking if anyone would like to hunt down or re-create the BGM from the series.

Themes found so far!

Ah, me seeing parts of the Saiyan Saga dubbed by Ocean on Kids WB is my earliest memories of Dbz. At the time, i really didn't care much for Dragonball Z. It wasnt until Funi took over during the Ginyu fights that I began watching it on toonami on a regular basis, becoming a fan. I'd personally like to see some rips from the Saiyan and Namek Saga. I would give it a shot if I had a computer, and the dvds, but someone on Youtube told me a long while back that the ocean dub dvd's audio is set-up in a way, so that most of the sound is on one channel, thus making ripping most tracks impossible unless you pieced together a track from parts that had no sfx/vocals. I'm not sure if it's true about the dvd's audio or not, so don't hold me to that, lol.

I primarily rip and upload unreleased Faulconer Productions music, as well as some other American dub music.

I think there was an actual OST release for the Ocean/Saban dub. Nothing for the later "108-276" dub, though, but that one was just recycled music from Mega Man and Monster Rancher's dub, so... maybe try to find a Mega Man cartoon OST or something?

As far as I know, all of those tracks except "Stalking" and the third & fifth piece in "Trunks theme, Army theme, Androids" are from Mega Man cartoon. I do love the Mega Man score used in the ocean dub, but I just don't understand why ocean dub fanboys upload them as "Ocean Dub OST". They were written and recorded for Mega Man. They should be treated as "Mega Man OST". Do they hate the score being said "recycled" or something? Anyway, seeing people calling those pieces "Ocean Dub OST" makes me feel a bit silly.

There has been no CD release of the score of Mega Man cartoon. There was a CD named Original Soundtrack, but it included only non-related songs.

I found a file I edited before. I named this "Invasion" and uploaded as a Mega Man soundtrack on YouTube long time ago.

The reason fanboys call it "Ocean Dub OST" is because Ocean dubbed Megaman.Would be great if others could re-create theme's using scenes that have no voices or SFX.Its hard but it is possible to do.

Of course I know that the Ocean Studios dubbed Mega Man, but "Ocean Dub" usually means DBZ ocean dub, and they always put the music with images from DBZ. In addition, I've never seen anyone naming those tracks after Mega-Man-related things. It's just incomprehensible and silly. Maybe their cheap competitive spirit against FUNi dubbies makes them not to treat the score as the recycled thing from the other show or something? Come on, why can't they just love those things as they are?

Sorry for getting off-topic. Again, I do love the score used in the late ocean dub. I hope those things keep coming.

Me too. It's a great score that had its moments in the dub and made the Ocean dub what it is.
