Chance of Dragon Box quality DB movies1-4?
Does anyone have reason to believe that Funimation would release the Dragonball movies in a dragon box? The reason i ask is because i am debating whether or not to purchase the complete 4-pack they currently have out.
Re: Chance of Dragon Box quality DB movies1-4?
We've had zero indication of FUNimation owning anything Dragon Box-like aside from the Z series and the Z movies. The new remastered DB movie 4-pack is quite a good bang for your buck, so if you want these movies then I'd recommend picking it up rather than waiting around for something that may never exist.

Have they actually confirmed they have the Z movies? If so, wouldn't that mean there's a good chance of them releasing it, since they have already spent the money on the rights?Kaboom wrote:We've had zero indication of FUNimation owning anything Dragon Box-like aside from the Z series and the Z movies. The original announcement for the US Dragon Boxes specifically mentioned "291 episodes and 13 movies," but FUNimation later said (at another convention, I think) that a movie box wasn't 100% definite. So they probably have (or can easily get) the masters, but whether or not they do anything with them is still a mystery.Kingdom Heartless wrote:Have they actually confirmed they have the Z movies? Did FUNimation specifically say they just have the Z movies?
If I recall correctly, the Dragon Box release of the movies contained every Dragon Ball related movie.

If they had DB movies in Dragon Box quality, I don't know if they'd put out that set they just did. Seems like it would be better to keep the well intentionally dry for better sales.

In the initial announcements, the 13 movies were mentioned, not the 17 movies. At this point, I'm gonna play it conservative and say it's just the Z stuff. If I'm proven wrong, then great! More DBox to go around!Rory wrote:Did FUNimation specifically say they just have the Z movies?

If they had the Dragon Ball Z movies, they would be in 16:9, right?

Correct. The DBox DBZ movies are 16:9 to mirror their theatrical presentation.Kingdom Heartless wrote:If they had the Dragon Ball Z movies, they would be in 16:9, right?

I don't see why you wouldn't get the movie 4 pack. It's for $22.99 on Amazon. Even if they do release the first four movies in Dragon Box format, it's not going to be for a very... very long time. They'd probably release all of Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Dragon Boxes before they'd get to those and that could be a couple of years. In the meantime, for a cheap price, you can enjoy the movies for a couple of years before they would come out (if they do).

I just want to note that the "Dragon Box: The Movies" version of the "Dragon Ball" movies were really the "theatrical version" of the them. So things like a "Dragon Ball" promotion ad (not included in FUNimation's release, of course) that were shown after the movies were finish in theaters, are all included (if there is one).Kendamu wrote:Correct. No, it's just like FUNi to put out a crappy set and then, just a few months later, release some "amazing" remastered version of it. In this case, they just did that, so be on the lookout for the original 4 Dragon Ball movies in a Dragon Box quality set sometime in September.Innagadadavida wrote:If they had DB movies in Dragon Box quality, I don't know if they'd put out that set they just did. Even if Funimation had the rights to the 4 Dragon Ball movies in Dragon Box quality, they would most likely release them with the 13 DBZ movies, after the 7th Dragon Box.
Bald that way
