What exactly Kai supposed to be?
I`ve read al Kai topics,but i didnt find answer to this question,for Japan,what exactly is Kai? I mean,how Toei advertised it? As new Anime closer to Manga, or remastered Dragon Ball Z with less fillers?

It was advertised as a "refreshed" version of DBZ that would be closer to Akira Toriyama's original story in celebration of the 20th anniversary of DBZ from the very first promos.
