The best Dōjinshi/Fan comics

Post by Eire » Wed Mar 09, 2011 2:38 pm

Since venom of bad fanfics has infiltrated my veins I've been thinking about other fan-works. Obviously I've come across DB Mulitverse- I appreciate this, but since I'm more on character development than fights and power levels I don't find it entertaining.
The Universe F suits my taste- I've never thought I can love complete alternative story, but now I would like the whole DB look like this. Unfortunately I have to wait until May for next chapters.

Here comes my question: what are your favourite fan comics? What kind of works do you like (strips, longer stories, humorous or serious)? Which are the best and what are your favourites?
Per aspera ad astra, man!

Lessee … favourite doujins … I have too many!

To narrow it down I’ll just list three:

Miracle Lunch Box

I really like the character Lunch, so I basically snap up any doujin that features her. This is a really sweet love story between her and Tenshinhan. The art is gorgeous.

School Heaven

It was a really funny story about the cast of DB putting on a high school play of Cinderella. I was kinda disappointed at the hentai on the last few pages, I’ve no problem with smut, but I felt it was a pointless inclusion to an overall decent comedy manga.

I can’t read the name of this manga as it’s in Japanese, but it’s just a really cute story about Vegeta and Bura.

I also like Universe F; it’s nice to see a comic that focuses on something other than Saiyans. And it’s refreshingly Mary Sue free.

The kind of doujin I normally buy is comedy and yuri/yaoi. I’ll read anything though, romance, drama … as long as the art is nice.

To be really honest here, my favorite doujins/fan comics are always the perverted/humor ones. It doesn't necessarily have to be a full blown hentai.

My favorite doujins are Dragon Ball H by Rehabilitation and Head-Cha-La. I know that Head-Cha-La is sort of a yaoi doujin but I'm just so in love with the art that I can look past the parts were Piccolo tries to rape Goku.

My favorite fan comics are DBM and DB Reborn. I have a love and hate relationship with DBM but I never had so much fun reading a fan comic before. I love, LOVE DB Reborn because of how hilariously bad it is. Every girl has giant sized breasts, it filled with Mary Sues, and the plot (so far) actually have me interested, I'm really curious as to how bad it can get.

By the way StarRot I love Miracle Lunch Box too! One of my favorite soft romance doujins.

I'll confess, I love that kind of thing too.
Not so much because its arousing … but some of these hentai doujin are just hilarious, especially some of the yaoi. How do these people come up with this stuff?! It’s amazing.

Take a look at this blog: http://my.opera.com/Dragonball-AF-Brasi ... ?id=708912

It contains a lot of Dragonball fan-made comics/mangas. It is mainly in Portuguese but you probably can browse through it fairly well.

I really really love Toyble's AF. Often times I find myself immersed so much into it that I actually start believing what I'm reading to be canon. :o

I love it so much because it has a fair balance of fighting and story. A lot of Toriyama-esque humor and references, makes it feel very natural to me.

My two favorite circles are Taku Fusamichi and Pink Palace, hands down.

Image Image
Pink Palace has solid art and from what I can follow in the comic format damn solid stories- the two book series I've been trying to follow are Soap Opera and Myth of Dragon. I hate the need to slip rape into all the storylines but I'll be damned if I don't like the books anyway. Pink Palace also brought us Sweet Pea, possibly the cutest little Sameccian in existence :D

Then there's Taku Fusamichi... whom I love with a passion. I get all of my icons from their stuff- they take dragonball and add a willowy grace to it without making everyone look like girls (I'm looking at you, Blue Lynx and just... goddamn. They do comedy, drama, slash, fluff, all beautifully. I need to get my hands on the last few books I'm missing.
