R4 Dragonball Set 1 - Pilaf Uncut and Bilingual

Post by tablet the eunuch » Thu Feb 12, 2004 4:42 am

(refers to madboards.madman.com.au)

Check there. check in the DBZ/GT general section. You will find a really, really odd announcement
Post subject: Dragon ball Collection 1 - Confirmed uncut
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Just wanted to confirm that this set will be uncut, and bilingual. The new Funimation dub will be used and Curse of the Blood Ruby will be included as well.
Scary.

yes, we do, but the picture quality won't be as good as the American.

I think whats happening here is, that FUNimation have the subtitles, dub, and video and DVD authoring all ready to go, it's just they wont release it in America, because Kidmark still have their Saga of Goku out. However, as we don't have that problem, Madman can release it.

Madman's Australian releases are all badly-telecined 25 fps PAL, as far as I know. :P

Drat :)

Interesting news including the first movie with it too though, hopefully it turns out to also be uncut/subbed and not just a junk distribution of the old dub.

Serious? I really would just wait for the US version, because unlike FUNimation, Madman have a LOT of errors regarding Dragonball, and have a tendancy not to fix them up

Plus, go to dvdpacific.com, they have them cheaper than madman anyway.

And you want to do the least as possible to support a company that lets people post pictures of 9 year old catgirls in "compromising positions"

Loli-con fucktards.

When do they lose that license, anyway?

But it'd be in PAL! Like I am. Not personally. What errors have they made?

As for the 9 year old catgirls thing, I didn't actually think it was possible for those words to go together like that.

I tend to order from DVDBoxOffice. Because of the rubbishness of the Candian Dollar, they're quite cheap, and it's free delivery all over the world. Woo!

Damn Canadian currency. For $500 US you can buy all DB related merchandise in Canada, Alberta and still have enough left over for a pepsi-2 hot dogs-poutine combo. :x

What errors have they made?
Not all are nessecerally erors, they're just I dunno, Delibrate mistakes.

-Season 2 (Captian Ginyu, Frieza, Garlic) released in English only, despite their policy of using any available materials they had (released mid last year, so there were Japanese and English subs available, very poor form)

-Season 3/part of 4 (Trunks, Androids, Cell, Saiyaman) in English Only, but this was to capitalize on them earlier so they could get more money out of them.

-Season 5 (Majin Buu till end) has several problems. The first volume (season 5 begins in the third volume of buu) has an error in the English version which causes it to jump to the next scene and you're unable to wind back. Season 5 volume 7 has macroblocking about a third into one of the episodes (first), and its pretty much unwatchable for most of the episode.

-In movie 5, they didn't allow subs or audio to be changed mid-film. Movie 7 lacks English 5.1 and has a paticularly horrible Transfer. Dragonball: path to power is missing most of it's subtitles.

See, in the error ridden ones, they could of replaced them early and avoided it. But they didn't, though a 4 second muffling on Bebop's Japanese track caused such alarm and chaos that new masters were issued RIGHT AWAY.

Eh

Well ya it's Cowboy Bebop. It's got all the support of my other favourite group to hate, fanboys! They whine about every little bloody, anal, miniscule thing they find wrong! Heh, I'd like to see them put up with the kind of treatment we had with our DB releases. I mean I just want a good picture, good sound, a properly working disc with the uncut original Japanese episodes with subtitles on/off and I'm happy. That's it. I'm suprised the fanboys haven't started deminding that they get offered "special edition anime Akira DVDs made of gold that come with an actual motorcycle, the spitting image of Kaneda's". :?

I geuss 4 seconds of audio would be irritating, its just Madmans catering to their stupid obnoxious fanboys, ala their tounge to fanboys asshole.
