That memo was created for the anime, therefore it's part of the anime continuity, not the manga's. It's part of Toei's story, not Toriyama's. Although there's nothing said that it can't be part of the manga's continuity, so whatever.

Are we talking about those he did for the bardock special? I think those could easily apply to manga continuity. Even if they were made for the anime, they are based on what the original author thought or came up with for his own characters. Doesn't the idea that pure-blood saiyans have black hair first come up here, whe he corected Selipa's design?

He said something along the lines of, "Saiyans are all meant to have black hair, but I don't care if you ignore that." I think all of these notes and things are available on Kanzentai and some Bardock ones on the site.

Freeza could have integrated Saiyan technology into his own empire. I mean, just because all the rest of Freeza's troops have scouters and super-elastic armor, doesn't mean that they didn't get them from the Saiyans.

Saiyans were considered the Warriors of the Galaxy. They were very renowned for what they did.

By Freeza teaming up with them, it was basically a political and business partnership. They basically combined and became "Freeza's warriors." That way Freeza gets all the nifty new toys and his own private army of Saiyans, and Saiyans get to save face by not getting crushed by Freeza. I mean, if you can't beat em... join em.

Except that the Saiyans didn't all see it that way. Some were ashamed of the alliance, and they wanted to continue being their own masters. So... there was a lot of strife and planet Vegeta became a really dangerous place to live.

According to at least one or two versions of the backstory, Scouters were a Tsufrian technology. Which the Saiyans stole when they wiped them out, then in turn integrated into Freeza's empire when they joined up.

I don't buy the Saiyajin backstory put forth by the anime, written by Toriyama or not.
