You bring up a great point about Bio Broly. A makeover doesn't really fix that. A little bit of blush and a trim only goes so far when you're a sludge monster. Bio Broly may be better off looking into plastic surgery. Or perhaps regular surgery. That heart being visible problem of his has to be a pretty major health issue.

Re: Episode #0263 (26 June 2011)
Everybody did recognize Piccolo, once his turban got blown off by Goku. So apparently they're not forgetful, they're just easily fooled by disguises. Tenshinhan also spotted right away that Ma Junior was connected to Piccolo Daimao, but thought that he was just one of his underlings who had managed to survive. Which is actually fairly logical because Goku and Shen are the only ones who knows that Piccolo has been reborn/reincarnated or whatever; everyone else just thinks he's long dead and so aren't on the lookout for him, and Ma Junior doesn't even look identical to the old Piccolo, just similar. Why would anyone see him and say "hey, that guy looks like Piccolo Daimao only younger and thinner, obviously that must be Piccolo"? And with that turban on, nobody can even tell that he's bald and has antenna, two of Piccolo's main distinguishing traits. All they've got is that here's a guy who's green and has pointy ears, and remember that this is DB Earth guys like Pilaf, Giran, Tenshinhan, and Chaozu walk around without anyone giving them a second thought. There's plenty of people with odd skin colors and other unusual traits walking around, especially at the tournament, so it's not that surprising that people don't look at Ma Junior's skin color and immediately associate him with Piccolo Daimao. I mean, it's still silly, but not completely inexplicable like some people think.

About the metal that breaks the Z-Sword, "Kachin." Maybe Ka-ching would have been a better adaptation.
About the number of wishes: (Realize my source is the subtitled DBZ TV series) I remember when Dende was restoring the Dragon Balls in the Cell arc, he said he could upgrade the balls to three wishes (like the original Namekkian balls.) Someone asked if one wish could revive many people at once, because that had not been an option on the Namekkian Dragon Balls. Then he thought about it for a minute, and he said that he could make that possible, but then they would only have two wishes.
Before, I had always assumed that he meant that for all cases the new Dragon Balls would only allow two wishes. But maybe he meant that 3 wishes were the default, but if a wish was to revive multiple people, you only got two wishes.

Fun Fact: If you use the PS3 browser search tool to search for vegetto body pillow, the first thing that comes up is Temple O' Trunks.
Re: Episode #0263 (26 June 2011)
I've actually seen the Kinto'un pillow on eBay. It was years back though.
Something I'd want that currently doesn't exist? One of those high-end Goku figures (like that one where the clothes were actually cloth and he had his three hair-antennae. I forget the brand name.), but with his normal happy face expressions instead of just the battle faces. I'd buy that.
I also want to see more Jump Tour Special era specials if only because I think it could lead to some entertaining adventures where a still-bored Goku (watching him mess with Vegeta in the name of amusing himself was so different) decides to embark on a quest in search of fun while dragging Vegeta and Piccolo along for the ride. A "The Melancholy of Son Goku" if you will. :3
Or Dragon Ball's answer to Strong World. I'd accept that. X3
I always thought it was funny how visually, Gotenks is kind of a stand-in for Vegeta while he's gone; when he's in ssj especially. It's like how Goten was a temporary stand-in for Goku visually. A character that kind of reminds you of an already well-established popular character. It works as an addition to the character's own individual personality to try and attract an audience while also making character-design easier on Toriyama. I'm not saying this in a negative way; I'm just analyzing. Gotenks is hilarious and Goten's adorable. Gotenks could have easily had hair that favored Trunks or Goten, but instead it's straight Vegeta with purple mixed in.
I've never been a fan of the missing eyebrows in ssj3. I just don't really care for that aspect. I wish ssj3 had kept the tail; I can't help but wonder what the ramifications of that design would've been; would it have brought tails back as something kind of important again?
Goku getting Piccolo to do the fusion dance with him is great. XD It's the first of several ridiculous things that happen to Piccolo over the course of the arc; he makes such a good target reaction-wise to having to deal with crazy situations.

Yeah, that's true. Although, strangely, Videl and one of the Tenka'ichi Budokai monks thought that he was sick because of his green skin.Herms wrote:Everybody did recognize Piccolo, once his turban got blown off by Goku. RE: Room of Spirit and Time
Huh. Wow. Guess I was projecting what I knew would be happening upon what was taking place here. Weird. Oh, well.
RE: Piccolo Appearance
I interpreted Ben's question as meaning "the regular people in the world", which is why I mentioned the announcer and the king, rather than mentioning Tenshinhan's pick-up on something going down. I do agree that perhaps Piccolo's "disguise" was covering him a bit, but still...

Re: Episode #0263 (26 June 2011)
Another great episode, and to be honest, I've particularly been looking forward to you guys discussing this volume because of the whole Buu-Satan thing, although I'm surprised you didn't bring up the Buu and the blind kid scene. While I don't want you guys to finish since I'm enjoying these Manga review episodes so much, I can't wait for you guys to get to the end of the series. Do you plan on doing anything special apart from Jeff's test? A general survey about the whole series, eg. favourite arc, least favourite etc.? How did Jeff feel about the series as a whole? Top 5 panels from the entire Manga? Speaking of 'top 5', are there any plans to bring back Meri's lists again along with introducing some other new segments. Oh, and will you be viewing the last few episodes from the Anime with Jeff as well? Can't wait to see what you guys do next (I hope it's movie commentaries
)!
On a different topic about the episode, I'm really annoyed that 'Play-Asia' sold out so quickly of the August issue of 'V-Jump'. Oh well, perhaps I can get the last two chapters.
And last of all, there's absolutely no reason for Funimation to split the movies box set. As I posted in another topic:

It perfectly mirrors the Japanese release and it's 6 discs.

Yeah, especially since on the Japanese release, DBZ Movies 1, 2 and 3 were all on one disc, so it could easily work likes this:Kendamu wrote:The "one big box" could really be about the same size as a regular US DBox volume.Gozar wrote:I'm really hoping for one big box. Re: Episode #0263 (26 June 2011)
There's one thing I never picked up on before, but I noticed while listening to this episode / skimming through Volume 40.
Enma says that Dabura would be too happy in hell, so he sent him to heaven. However, didn't Piccolo say *just one volume ago* that evil souls get cleansed and revived as good people, or something along those lines? In other words, if Enma had sent Dabura to hell, wouldn't his soul be cleansed and all that? I know it's for the sake of comedy to say "oh, he'd be happy in hell so I sent him to heaven", and it is a funny line, but it kiiiinda contradicts what was said in the very previous volume.

Re: Episode #0263 (26 June 2011)
Maybe his soul can't be cleansed while he's enjoying himself, so he has to be miserable in Heaven to be cleansed. Also, for all we know people in Heaven have to eventually reincarnate too (ala the Buddhist afterlife, which DB's is based on), so Dabra being there instead of Hell wouldn't change his ultimate fate.TrunksTrevelyan0064 wrote:Enma says that Dabura would be too happy in hell, so he sent him to heaven. Anyway, it's clear that Enma can choose to do whatever he wants with people's souls, so exceptions don't really contradict the general scheme. After all, we see next volume that Enma decided it best to keep Vegeta around to fight Boo again rather than send him to Hell, but I don't think this contradicts what Piccolo says; what Piccolo describes is just what usually happens.
Re: Episode #0263 (26 June 2011)
Was reminded of something while listening.
The part of the story where Bulma and company revive all of the people killed by Majin Vegeta during the tournament and fixing all of the damage he had done: I'm not sure if this was a dub-only conversation, but when Goku comes over to interrupt the other good guys, he asks Shenlong to hold off on granting a second wish after all the people are revived, because they'll probably need it for later. I remember something about them only having to wait a span of 4 months until they could simply gather up the Dragon Balls again and make their second wish later. Was this a change made for the TV series in general?

No, that's in the manga too. It's mentioned again at the end that 4 months later they use that wish to erase everyone's memories of Boo.Kirbopher wrote:The part of the story where Bulma and company revive all of the people killed by Majin Vegeta during the tournament and fixing all of the damage he had done: I'm not sure if this was a dub-only conversation, but when Goku comes over to interrupt the other good guys, he asks Shenlong to hold off on granting a second wish after all the people are revived, because they'll probably need it for later. Re: Episode #0263 (26 June 2011)
I think Jeff should do a GT prediction at the end of the last volume.
