I FINALLY received my DVD box set of movies 4-6. When you switch the audio to japanese they go mute.

Now I hafta to return 'em.
I also got my issue of Shonen Jump since re-subscribing. It was issue 15 instead of 14. I e-mailed them and they said they'd send it for free if I pay $12.99 shipping.
On top of which last year subscribed out of issue 1 (meaning I should get 2-13, no?). They fucked up and sent me 1-12. So now I have to back order 13+14 (at a comic store! FUCK VIZ!).
Shall we continue with the quality of issue 15? Well it was bent to shit and had the naruto chapter ripped out.
I'm not happy. Then I find out some dumbass is dissing EX's credibility.

Now I'm going to set fire something to get my mind of matters.

Sorry to here about the DVDs. As for VIZ, well I think sometimes they go in to work without their brains, which would explain why they want to charge almost $80 CAN. of the Maison Ikkoku box set 1 with just 12 episodes!(Yes my American friends, we have it bad here. Pity us.) Of course, they've always been stingy son-of-a-guns.

No shit. Do you like how we have to pay an "outside US" fee to meet the exchange rate, but pay both the subscription and the fee in US dollars? What exchange? WE'RE PAYING IN YOUR CURRENCY!!! And it's not like they can argue that it's for additional shipping: it's printed in Toronto.

It is? Damn! I'm in Toronto!
Viz screws up my SJ orders, too. I asked that they start me off with isuue 3 since I already bought 1 and 2 before I decided to subscribe. Guess what they didn't do.

For my first subscription the return address read Vancouver. The new one (issue 15 + so on) is from Toronto. Both were sent via Canada Post.

About Naruto being ripped out... That's just fucked up. You can get issues that reached you in horrible condition replaced for free, and that's screwed up enough to qualify, for sure. I've only gotten a few issues where the spine is kind of crappy. Nothing worth any trouble.

I don't know what it is about trying to get Shonen Jump here, it seems everybody has trouble. I know that when I first subscribed, I sent them a cheque and made sure to compensate for the exchange difference and everything. It took them ages to respond....with telling me it wasn't good enough and that I'd have to change it into a money order instead. So I send a money order, and of course they start me off on issue 3. Heh, it's a good thing the staff at the comic store I frequent put aside the first 2 issues for me, figuring I'd want them. It helps to know people who actually sell this anime stuff! But yeah, VIZ ain't one of my most favourite companies, especially the way they release their anime.

I've never gotten any issues that were damaged though, that's just crazy and inexcusable. What, do they have some psycho packaging your orders Dayspring?

ALL of mine came rolled up like a newspaper. I won't blame that on Viz though since the simple letter carrier around here randomly has to also carry "small" packages and magazines. It was probably just him making room in his bag or something. But all those were the worst case scenarios for shipping. It was just roundish-bent. Big deal. But this last one...

For things to actaully be ripped out, though. Was it still in the plastic packaging? If not, it would have been some corrupt mailmen breaking the law.

It was in the baggy. The chapter wasn't completely ripped out. I have 3 pages, and a ripped lower half (going diagonally up) of the last page of it.

Viz has a really great translator team, but their financial and sales team are...evil.
Still I've not had any issues with my SJ siubscriptions - I subscribed after getting issue 2 - rthey started it with 2 (would have been nice if they started with issue 1 but I got it on back order later) and they took a LONG time to start mailing the issues to me but they got caught up all at once and then weent working just fine and regularly since. I'm sorry some of you got it so bad XD

**Notices that everybody who has had problems is Canadian** It's a conspiracy! Those bastards!!!
Gotta hand it to them though: it got me to buy the Naruto TPs and has me considering getting the One Piece trades as well.

Ya I agree with you there about their sales team being devil spawns.

How many years did it take them to add at least one more episode to their 2-episodes only Ranma 1/2 volumes? Practically in the final season. Stingy devils.

I guess they have some problems selling GNs, looking at all of those ads at the bottom of the page. They can be funny sometimes, but it's often just annoying. I'M BUYING YOUR STUFF ALREADY, DAMMIT! Well, at least they stopped putting them in actual speech ballons. "You mean blah blah blah? And you can now buy Yu Yu Hakusho graphic novels?" I bet they got some hate mail for that.
2 eps? The standard is 3, right? That's pretty bad... The point is, aside from the translators, these people are evil.

Oh ya, for years you had to pay about $34.95 for 2 whole, smacking episodes! $40-something for the little privelege of the subtitled version! Actually, I'm suprised they did release Maison Ikkoku on DVD since same said "devil's spawn salespeople" originally said they deduced that there was no market for it! Can you believe that? Well ya, sure there won't be a market for it the way you package it!! As for the advertisements in Shonen Jump, while the dialogue balloon ones irritate me, they do need to make some money somewhere, so I don't have a problem with it in general. Hey, if it lowers the damn asking-price for their anime, hey, I'll pay to put an ad in! Okay, enough silly ranting.

To be fair, the Japanese
Shonen Jump does the same kind of margin-commentary, except it's not all ads. Annoying as hell, I know... but no way to escape 'em (except doing what they tell you and buying the Graphic Novels... argh).

Wow, really? You learn something every day...
But now I'm just curious as to what they would possibly put there besides ads.
