Piccolo's speech to Gohan in GT

Post by Dizrythmia » Sat Jul 16, 2011 2:00 am

I purchased the Dragonball GT Dragonbox & have been watching it in raw Japanese (obviously seeing as there are no subs on Japanese Dragonboxes). I don't understand much Japanese but am finding it easy enough to work out what's going on. I have a question about Piccolo's death. From what I could gather in Japanese Piccolo tells Gohan how much more powerful he has become & mentions "that last Kamehameha", then places his hand on his stomach & pulls away blood implying that he's still injured from it.

I wanted to see how it was done in English so I found a clip with the dub & was quite disappointed. Kyle Hebert's delivery as Gohan was good but Sabat as Piccolo really missed the mark. It was quite unemotional & seemed to talk more about how much he loved Gohan & learned to love from him. Then he places his hand on his stomach & pulls it away showing the blood & says "It's started".

Now as I said, I don't speak Japanese so I may have gotten the context completely wrong, but the dub just seems to be way off the mark on this one. As I don't have the Funimation releases with subs I was wondering if someone has a transcript of what Piccolo actually says to Gohan in Japanese. Can anyone help me out? Was Piccolo still injured from the Kamehameha or was it the Earth starting to blow up that caused the injury?

Thanks in advance.
