DB Majority of Anime Collection?

Post by Super Sonic » Sun Jul 24, 2011 11:34 pm

Like the title says does the Dragon Ball Franchise make up the majority of you guys' anime collection? For myself, not anymore. It did 5-10 years ago, but now I have quite a bit of stuff making up my collection. It is the majority of my anime made by Funimation however. And if you look at my dvd aficionado, my biggest category is action inspired by that. How about you guys? Does it make up majority of anime altogether, or just anime by Funimation?

About 90% of it. The other 10% are the first two seasons of Yu Yu Hakusho and a couple of Yu-Gi-Oh and Rurouni Kenshin singles.

This.

Edit: Actually, I was wrong - I have Street Fighter II the movie. Forgot about that.

It use to be around 90% a year and a half ago but ever since I started focusing more on other anime, it's now about 40%, including my former versions (volumes, movie singles etc).

It's indeed the majority of my collection. I've got 5 Dragon Boxes, the last couple Season Sets which haven't been replaced with Dragon Boxes yet, all the Z movies, DB season one and the 4-disc DB movies box, all of GT, half of Kai... Other than that I've got all 4 of FUNi's YuYu Hakusho "season" boxes, and a half-dozen other random single-disc things.

DB is the only anime series I collect. I do like FMA, but I keep debating myself to buy the DVDs or not.

DragonBall is the only anime series I collect. I collect several other manga series (One Piece and Hikaru no Go are some of my favorites) but I don't collect the anime for those series.

I'm almost embarrassed to admit just how much anime I own. On my visible shelf I still have all of the Orange Bricks, Green Bricks, the two Madman sets of Dragon Ball, and the first three blurays of Kai; together they make up less than a quarter of this shelf. If I got out the movies and specials, I guess that would make a full quarter. If I had to estimate how many identical shelves I could fill with the DVDs not out on display, I'd have to guess that Dragon Ball would only make up about 5% of my collection. And that's not taking VHS stuff and manga into account... Yeesh.

It's the majority, yes. Though, I have other series as well splashed in there. I would say 75% of it.

A majority, yes.

I think the only other anime I have though is all of Azumanga Daioh.
It is in his character to be rude and a bit crass. He's a hick, with no formal education. That is Son Goku. That is who he is.

Superman in an orange Gi was the bastard son of FUNimation. Its not The real character, it is as false as Chatku.

Although Dragonball does make up a huge amount of my anime collection, the Gundam series makes up a whole lot more.

Yes. I'm not a huge anime fan. The only DVDs I own are Dragon Ball, One Piece, Evangelion, Haruhi and a couple of Death Note DVDs. Of course, none of those series combined come even close to the double/triple/quadruple dipping that goes on with Dragon Ball.

More like the entirety.

I guess I have some Hellsing and FLCL sitting on a shelf somewhere too, but whatever.

Does anyone else just ... not really like anime? I used to be quite into it, around middle school mostly. But I'm really not a fan now. That is, I don't specifically avoid anime, but I also don't go looking for it. I've come to loathe a lot of its tropes as well. There are still scattered series I'll find and enjoy, but it will be because they're good series, not good anime.

About 30%, the rest is Saint Seiya, Gundam, Gintama and Yu Yu Hakusho.

I wouldn't say it's the *entirety* of my collection... but I do have quite a bit of it.

The 6 Dragon Boxes currently out, All 13 DBZ Movies, (Single disc, 4:3; For comparison purposes, mostly) the Trunks/Bardock specials released by FUNimation (Old singles, as well) the 3-pack of Dragon Ball movies, (Still no movie 1, oh well) and most of the Dragon Ball GT singles released by FUNimation. (Missing the "Lost Episodes" set there) The rest is a few Manga volumes and a bunch of old figures boxed away as I have no room for them.

All my other DVDs/Manga are Bleach, Fullmetal Alchemist and Pokemon. :P
Next quest: Buy the Super: Broly and Super Hero Blurays, also Daima whenever that releases in the states. Also the Super Manga!

Fan of Dragon Ball Z and various other Anime since '98! ^^

Yeah, if this was 2004 I would be all over anime. Now, anime is just synonym for Dragon Ball for me.
