Video Game Music: Orchestrated or Synthetized?

Post by AoiKageNoChikara » Wed Jul 27, 2011 3:42 am

It's been awhile since I've posted here but, I wanna be straight. Don't you miss the days when Dragon ball music was more than just a freaking guitar and synth instruments?. Like almost every soundtrack from the dragon ball snes games had many Orchestrated pieces in the CD's. Let's take a look.

A Piece from Dragon ball Super Gokuden: Searching for the Dragon balls

Isn't this just brilliant?. Another piece.

Dragon ball Z Super Butouden 2: Trunk's Theme (Orchestrated)

In my humble opinion. Trunk's image song from the Kai soundtrack is dull in comparison to this amazing Piece. In fact, would you not love orchestrated pieces of music as the themes for each character. Say like Piccolo's theme By Shunsuke Kikuchi. With a great composer and proper orchestra. it would be possible (hell it's even possible with a Synth).

The Dragon ball games continued to have great music even at the PSX Era. let's take a look.

Kid Buu's Theme for Final Bout.

This one just leaves me amazed. Yamamoto is a brilliant composer when he wants to. too bad he is... well. A Copycat... and well I just hope this is not plagiarized Either LOLZ.

This continued a bit more until the Budokai Games.

Even then, the games had really catchy tunes. even when they had started using too much guitars and drums and ect.

But now.... let's take a look at this. From "New" Dbz games.

I can swear I heard the last one before.... oh yeah. Now the music in games sound almost the same.

And seriusly... Kikuchi Synthesized music?

It's just.... not the same. i do say. RB2 atleast put effort in Mixing them properly.

So. after all this... I want to know your opinions about this. For Dbz Games...

Orchestrated Music or Synthesized music?.

My personal opinion is that they should get a great composer, a great orchestra and start working their butts on a great score Like PTETSS and give the kikuchi score either a well deserved rest or a Reorchestration. Some minor Synths here and there and we're done.

What are you opinions on this? :3
