Kai Episode 98 + Final DVD & Blu-ray

Post by SRB2Unleashed » Fri Aug 05, 2011 7:57 pm

I know that the set that contains this episode has been released for about 2 days now-has anyone purchased this set and seen the episode already? If so how was the episode and what scenes are reanimated/cut out? Thanks!

I'd like to know what was changed in episode 98, as well.

The animation in episode 194 was shitty at times.
Next quest: Buy the Super: Broly and Super Hero Blurays, also Daima whenever that releases in the states. Also the Super Manga!

Fan of Dragon Ball Z and various other Anime since '98! ^^

Yeah, there were times in that Episode where Trunks honestly looked like Guile

pokohan on Twitter said that the episode had a long recap of the whole series and Anoyoichi-Budokai. Dragon Soul plays here.

Then it ends with Goku saying "See ya!".

Wow... That's pretty random... I wonder if any of it was Trunks saving his future.

Very weird that they'd have an Anoyoichi Tournament montage in there, considering it's all filler and doesn't further the plot, not wrap the story up...

Of course Trunks saves the future, but it's shortened and the recap fills the remaining time.

By whole series, is it just Kai, or is it original Dragon Ball as well? If it's just Kai, that sounds incredibly pointless.

Wow. Cool. I like the idea of a recap of the whole series. Nice touch.

Sounds sort of neat. I'd really like to see that recap. I wonder if it wraps it up in a, "What do you mean, "Boo arc?" They lived happily ever after!" sort of way.

I kinda like how they started the series with a montage and ended it with a montage except for the for the fact that they included the 'Anoyoichi Budokai' in it. "True to the Manga" my freakin' arse... Oh, and Gohan looks too short in that shot.

Looking on 'Play-Asia' and it turns out the DVD is quite cheap. (y'know, as cheap as Japanese DVDs get. Can't seem to find the 'TV special' DVD though which is insanely cheap) Will probably get it when I get around to it:

That's some serious incompetence on the side of Toei. Referencing the Anoyoichi-Budokai not only doesn't make sense because it's pure filler material, it also doesn't make sense because they had the dragon bring Kaio-sama back to life in episode 97 of Kai. The Anoyoichi-Budokai happens specifically because he was dead, but that wouldn't even be the case had Kai continued.

How could they have not noticed that?

It's like they just threw Super Cell-arc Gohan's look over Saiyan-arc Gohan's frame.

I thought that pic was kinda cool until that was pointed out though. I woulda noticed eventually, but dammit anyway. lol

You know, I didn't notice how short Gohan was in the shot, just how bad he looked. But his face should be somewhere above Goku's belt. Comparing it like this, he looks like a midget!

Actually, that was just a fansub screwing up the translation. Kaio's still dead.

I still can't get over how strange it is that the 'Anoyoichi Budokai' gets covered in the recap. If it was kept in here I'm guessing they were planning to keep it in Kai. :? Oh, and if the 'AB' was included, was there anything from the Buu arc also?

Ah, makes sense then. Still silly that they'd keep the Anoyoichi-Budokai in Kai, however.

It's not like they kept the entire arc in, just a reference to it at the very end. Getting mad at a reference to the Anoyoichi Budoukai is like getting mad at the fights not playing out exactly like the manga punch for punch.

I don't see it as "mad" so much as, "Umm.... well... huh."

It's not like allusions to the Garlic Jr. mini-arc were ever made, so why include the Ano-Yo-Ichi Budokai, another entirely-filler, self-contained mini-arc that's easily excised? It's just a strange choice to make.
