One More Plot Hole To Add To The Pile...

Post by Tanooki Kuribo » Mon May 09, 2005 9:42 pm

Pilaf uses the Black Star Dragon Balls to summon Shenron which are located at Dende's lookout, but In Dragon Ball Z the Dragon Radar doesn't pick these Dragon Balls up, which may be explained by how high up they are. But in GT they use the dragon radar in space to find them on planets far away.

Obviously, the well was constructed to block the signals of the Dragonballs. Pilaf creates a container like that back in DB, so it's not too far fetched.

Or it could be that in Z, the balls didn't have as much negative energy (or whatever you call it).

I haven't seen the early episodes of GT in um....about half a decade. But seeing as how Bulma or her dad can construct/modify ANYTHING I don't find it strange.

Well for the first part they couldn't have been active. The Namekian who created them no longer existed due to the fact he split (in a similar fashion that when Kami and Piccolo merged the Red Star DBs were no longer usable).

As for after the two merged and technically they become active again, maybe because of the way they were sealed, they couldn't be detected (like when Pilaf had the one star DB during the Red Ribbon arc. Alternatively because the Lookout is so high up, maybe the Dragon Radar can't detect anything out of a certain radius, which by chance the lookout falls into. Also it was stated that if a rocket tried to fly to the lookout, it would be repelled so maybe this “logic” works for items like the Dragon Radar.

But then you could say that GT itself is a big plothole.

Here's a question. If the Black Star DBs were sheilded... how did Pilaf find them? Hell, for that matter, how did he KNOW about them, let alone the Lookout?

It's been a while since I last watched the first GT eps, but if I remembered correctly, he learnt of them through research. Therefore, in my eyes it doesn't matter if he's able to detect them or not. If they've been hardly touched since they're original creation, there's a good chance they'll still be where the document said they would.

Its the same reason that the Black Star Dragonballs are NEVER mentioned before GT.

How about how is Pilaf even alive after Kid Buu destroyed the earth and the Namek Dragon only revived the good people? Did the dragon see Pilaf being so pathetic that he didn't even think he posed a threat?

If I recall correctly, the wish was to return Earth to normal, not just revive the good people.

Actually the exact wording of the wish (in the Simmons sub-titles) was:

Dende: Um, please bring back to life everyone who has died since Madoshi Babidi arrived on Earth, leaving out the really bad people.

And hey...... Vegeta came back to life and I'd say he's been worse than Pilaf.

Pinhead: You are probably thinking of the wish to restore the planet itself which happened prior, rather than the revival wish.
