Funimation's Dragon Box: The Movies

Post by Pikkoro Daimaō » Thu Nov 03, 2011 2:41 am

So it's been almost a month since the 7th Dragon Box came out. Anyone think there will be any news before Christmas about the Movie Box?

To be honest I doubt it :(

Edit - I really hope funimation can get the rights to add The Original Plan to Eradicate the Super Saiyans. Even though I already have a Dragonbox rip of the movie that my friend made and gave to me.
I don't even care if they dub it. But I highly doubt Funimation will get it :(

The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

Not yet. Right now they're re-releasing their double feature DVDs in bigger sets.

If they don't, I'll buy the Japanese singles.

It would be kind of stupid of Funi not to release them, since it would be a waste. Even if it is to be a limited release like the current Dboxes, it's still better than not getting it at all. It's just the waiting that bugs me...

However, if they do eventually release it, I wonder if they will get the rights for the other 4 films. I know Funi said they only have the rights for the 'Z' movies, but it would feel incomplete to me without having the other 4 movies as well.

I've always heard all good things come by waiting lol  But in my Opinion I would say Funimation will release it, But when is the question? But as far as them getting the rights to use The original Plan to Eradicate the Super Saiyans.... I kinda doubt that it will be included in our version of Dragon-box The Movies :( But who knows all we can do is hope

Hell, even if we got just a subbed version of Plan to Eradicate the Saiyans, that would be awesome. However, the 2 TV specials should be on this set for sure, since we didn't get it on Dbox 7 (which I was hoping was going to be on there).

I'm positive they will start to release it anywhere from March to November of this coming year. Why as late as November? While I'm hoping they announce DB/GT Boxes during the summer, they could instead announce the Movies during that period, and thus, a fall release.

Hope they will have it released before next year November.

I'm sure that if we get a GT Dbox release, it's guaranteed that there will be a DB Dbox release too. :D

Whatever they do now, in terms of Dragon Box (if anything) might be a good indication of how well these do.

If they just release The Movies they might just want to profit what they already bought and market them along side the new movie packs (which could explain why they're just pushing them out in rapidfire)
The other possibility would be them following the japanese order and come out with the Dragon Box followed by Dragon Box GT.

That's my wishful guess. They might not do anything and keep the Dragon Box collection incomplete.

So much for having my wish granted... Yet, Funi still might surprise us.

I'm hoping that they release the movie box soon. If they release it with the 4 Dragon Ball Movies included, I think it will be a prelude to a Dragon Ball Dragon Box release.

As for The Plan To Eradicate the Saiyans, I'm not sure what direction they might take. They could be dubbing it as we speak, but I could also see them dubbing only the new version (from Raging Blast 2), leaving the original as subtitle only. Somehow I don't see them including this if they can't include Yo! Son Goku and Friends Return. It just seems like they would probably try to get both from Toei if possible, and a rumor about a double feature of the two sprung up a while back.

The subtitles for the new one on the game were already a dub script by itself, so they might as well do it  (Just like everything in Ultimate Tenkaichi it seems)

Well they gotta milk the franchise somehow. I have a feeling they'll release the movies Dragon Box next. Crossing my fingers!
- Been a Dragon Ball fan ever since 1995 (at the time, I was 7 years old).
- I prefer Saffron Henderson's Kid Gohan and Kid Goku over Stephanie Nadolny's.
- I still hope for a redub of Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z with FUNimation's current cast.
- I prefer to watch Dragon Ball Z with the Faulconer Score, however I do not mind the original Japanese score.

It probably has something to do with the fact there contract with toei is coming up for renewal in a couple of years and they went to get these out the way before they do one last big thing which i expect is the full release of the DBZ Blu-ray and than Dragon Box the Movies there can't really be much else unless they get the other DBOX Masters.

I wonder if they already have the rights for the original Dbox and GT? Maybe they just haven't mentioned anything about it and plan to in the near future...

All they announced was the movies, so we'll likely get those first. They will also probably space it out after these cheap collections as well.

DBZ makes too much money for them, so I doubt they're going to allow the license to lapse even when renewal comes up.

Well, hopefully they will keep it in one box and with all the same artwork, except having the box smaller of course. If they need more discs for the TV specials (if they are going to release them in the Dbox movies that is), then they can always add an extra disc in each DVD book.
