Old Funi dub lines you would like to see with Kai acting?

Post by Ringworm128 » Fri Nov 25, 2011 5:49 am

Are there any dub lines you would want to with the level of acting in the Funi dub of Kai? For me I've always liked the 1000000 times stronger line when Goku does the 20X Kaioken. And as corny as it was I would like to see the hope of the universe speech with the same voice direction as the I am speech from DBZK. Also the Funi dub dialog for when Goku turns SSJ.

All of Frieza's corny lines in Chris Ayre's voice.

"Having these balls makes me feel something that resemble's joy... I want to caress them"

"A Backscratcher, where do I come up with this stuff! Haha!"

"Yee-haw, ride em cowboy!"

"Whatever turns you on, big boy"

"Pop goes the weasel"

But really, I would want to see this scene - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uBn98KBFVIQ

Why would I want to hear any of that crap? The great thing about Kai is the dub is without it.

Agreed.

The old FUNi DBZ Dub is a disgrace, if I wanted any lines with Kai acting? Would I like FUNi's Majin Boo FUNi DBZ Dub with Kai voice acting and better script as Kai is? Hell yeah! But it won't happen.

Kidding. Just remove from this world the FUNi Z dub...
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.

Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

Oh cmon people, it's just for the fun of it. No need to get Vegeta on us about how bad the dub was back in the day.

"Your Father was an average fighter but he was a BRILLIANT scientist!" - Vegeta.

I actually might ask Sabat to say that if I ever go to a con and he's there signing stuff. Kami knows he's most likely sick of the Over 9000 crap.

You know you some anime DVDs had dub outtakes? That would be pretty sweet if FUNi actually put some "outtakes" of the Kai cast reading lines from the old '99 DBZ dub. It would be a treat for the fans without impeding on the gold that is the Kai dub.

Chris Ayres doing those old homoerotic Freeza lines would be comedy legend...

I'd actually like to see that filler scene of Freeza's soldiers commenting on the difference between Freeza's and Goku's power levels.

Yes.

Probably "Sword of Injustice", "Sad for You", "Motivational Piccolo", and "Basically I'm trying to kill you."

Also found this little random bit while searching for dub line videos.

I would actually like to hear this line from Goku...

"I don't understand why you have to call us by such mindless names. All it does is reveal your own fear and ignorance. I guess you're too weak to challenge me any other way" in response to Frieza.

Why would you want to hear Goku say this? It totally contradicts his simplistic nature. Goku would never have this kind of insight or use that kind of proper grammar. Sounds like another dub line trying to westernize him.

Isn't there a change in the way he speaks even in Japanese version? Like, he becomes much more serious in his words and his line delivery? If so, I don't see this being that far off. Besides, it's an awesome line, especially considering how poorly written much of the Season 3 dialogue was.

Nothing like that at all. He becomes a little shorter, to the point, and drops a little bit of the "ei" ad-libbing from the "ai" sounds... and even that doesn't stick around for a long.

Lines like this are an entirely different character's lines. It's certainly not Goku in any way, shape, or form.

Huh, darn...well, how bout something like "Is that really all you can do, call me names? I guess you're too weak to challenge me any other way".

I guess if anything, I just really like the last part of that sentence.

I love the dub dialogue in general because of lines like this. It's like someone made a robot that created nothing but perfectly cheesy silver age super hero one liners. I don't even enjoy it ironically, it was a really interesting change of pace to hear stuff like that and the "ally to good" speech delivered without a hint of tounge in cheek in the early 2000's. To bring it back to the topic, lines like these just wouldn't sound the same without the old (equally wacky) unexperienced voices and music. Again, I'm not being snarky here, the dialogue was legitimately charming to me.
