Extras You'd Like To See On The Final Release
What extra features would you guys like to see on the final volume of Kai...I mean, ya know, when FUNimation finally gets around to it? For me, the top of the list would be a blooper reel for the dub. FUNimation released one for their final volume of "Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood," and I thought it was very funny. I'm sure there must be some great bloopers for the Kai dub. In particular, I'd like to hear Chris Sabat's version of "Dragon Soul." He mentioned in an interview that he did, in fact, record a version of "Dragon Soul," but he knew from the start that it was out of his vocal range and basically recorded his own version of it as a joke, singing the entire song in a deep southern accent ("mi-yustraes uh-bayound, mide of a durp inur-jae....").
What a bout you guys?

A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."

Yamamoto's score.
Kentai wrote:Son Gokuu is a fascinating character anyway, because he is - at face value, anyway - an idiot savant. The victim of violent head trauma as an infant [...] he's a simple bumpkin with a fair share of brain damage who's natural talents to work out what's wrong compensate for his broad lack of common sense. But he's also a fighter, through and through [...] he fight until he has, in no uncertain terms, beaten his enemy on terms they can both acknowledge. He doesn't want to kill anyone, or even prove that he can win... he just wants to know he can. He's an ineffably charming bastard who's manly leanings were really incendental, and yes, the fact that he was voiced by a squeaky woman made the combination perhaps all the more charming.

If it's a history of dubbing Z as a whole, shouldn't they go to the the first dub of it? Which is what, the French dub?Gonstead wrote:A History of Dragon Ball Z dubbing from Ocean Dub all the way to Kai.

You mean something like this... http://www.mazochungo.net/player/retrospectivadb.htm ? It'd be awesome and since it'd be in 480p SD it wouldn't occupy too much space that it would interfere with the quality of the Kai 1080p episodes, I think.AgitoZ wrote:If it's a history of dubbing Z as a whole, shouldn't they go to the the first dub of it? Gonstead, oh, but ya know, this would be a whole lot better if FUNimation included it.

If anyone has any of the DB/DBZ/DBGT or Maho Tsuaki Sally Japanese single DVD's that they'd be interested in selling send me a PM and I'll see if we can work something out.

I just hope that shows up in 97 and 98.superrayman3 wrote:4. The full english dub of the song Dragon soul performed by Vic Mignogna with an optional instrumental version w/o backing vocals.
Speaking of Vic, I hope they finally get him to sing Dragon Soul properly.

Re: Extras You'd Like To See On The Final Release
The one that's on TV kinda grew on me, but I was a bit taken aback by it first. I'm sure this is probably common knowledge by now, but he was instructed to sing it with an intentionally "rockish" feel to it. My guess is that had everything to do with commercial appeal. They wanted to appeal to kids who had never seen Dragon Ball before. I chuckle when I hear the TV version, not because it's bad, but because it has the screaming subtext of, "HEY, KIDS! WATCH THIS! WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING THINKING ABOUT CHANGING THE CHANNEL!? DON'T CHANGE THE CHANNEL! PUT THE REMOTE DOWN! PUT IT F***ING DOWN RIGHT NOW! THIS S**T IS AWESOME! SERIOUSLY!!! WAAAAAAAATCH IIIIITTT!!!!!!!"AgitoZ wrote:I just hope that shows up in 97 and 98.superrayman3 wrote:4. Episode 98 whether they consider this an extra or not I pray it is on the Kai Blu-Rays. As long as it has that I will be happy the other things like cast interviews would be sweet but it won't be disappointing to me if it isn't their now 98 that would disappoint if it wasn't on part 8

Re: Extras You'd Like To See On The Final Release
The biggest thing I'd like to see is interviews with the cast, but mainly retrospective. Like thoughts they have since they started wayyyyy back in 1999, or 2000 or whenever it was. I was fascinated with those very brief glimpses in Schemmel & Sabot's thoughts in those Youtube interviews.
From there, I'd also like to hear what the new actors think of stepping into iconic roles & what it felt like to be a part of Dragon Ball Z in general.
A blooper reel would be nice.
Perhaps an explanation of the music scandal since I'm still not entirely clear on it.
Maybe this is too personal and violates some people's privacy, but maybe some insight on why some actors were replaced.
Maybe one last video of the entire cast saying farewell, maybe even with Schemmel repeating Goku's final line in GT "Til we meet again guys!" would be a touching way of saying goodbye... again... for now.
