McDonald's On Iguana Street?
So, as many of you know, in Movie 4, Goku and Slug battle on a street that's apparently called Iguana Street based on the sign that appears above it. I didn't really pay much attention to this until Team Four Star released "Lord Slug Abridged," and a few jokes were made about Iguana Street (in which it was rather humorously implied to be an unsafe neighborhood). So I looked around to see if there's any significance for the term "Iguana Street," and it doesn't appear that there is. However, the wiki article states something interesting...namely, that there's a McDonald's somewhere on Iguana Street. I never caught this, and still can't--can anybody point out when it's visible during the movie?
A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."

Ah, thank you. Did McDonald's ever act as a corporate sponsor for DBZ? I know they did for Kai, but what about DBZ?

Woah. I've never seen that before. Huh, I guess DB/Z still has some surprises in it.

Re: McDonald's On Iguana Street?
I don't think it would have mattered if they had been a sponsor or not. Lots of corporate logos appear in DB for now reason whatsoever. Kame-sennin's shirt has a Pennzoil logo on it one point. The last episode of the Freeza arc had a building with the Camel cigarettes logo on it. So I guess it shouldn't be surprising they used the McDonald's logo to simulate a more realistic busy street.

Re: McDonald's On Iguana Street?
They seriously gave it its own article instead of having it as a reference one the Super Saiyan Son Goku page?
Re: McDonald's On Iguana Street?
The Wikia do that a lot of times... I guess it's easier to maintain unsourced material in small pages than bigger articles.

It makes me happy that I knew what this was as soon as I saw the thread title.
Yay pointless trivia!
I'm re-watching Dragon Ball GT in full on my blog. Check it out if you're interested in my thoughts on the series as I watch through it!

No, it's just a bunch of kids contributing and not knowing to run a website in an organized fashion.Fox666 wrote:The Wikia do that a lot of times... I guess it's easier to maintain unsourced material in small pages than bigger articles.

Didn't McDonald's sponsor the Path to Power movie when that came out to theatres in Japan?

Yeah, I'm probably grasping at straws here...

The Western Metropolis Hilton from DB episode #43!

The Western Metropolis Hilton from DB episode #43!
It is in his character to be rude and a bit crass. He's a hick, with no formal education. That is Son Goku. That is who he is.
Superman in an orange Gi was the bastard son of FUNimation. Its not The real character, it is as false as Chatku.

On that note, there were multiple real world logos in those episodes. I remember Budweiser, and maybe Coca-Cola.DBZ Mick wrote:The Western Metropolis Hilton from DB episode #43!

Re: McDonald's On Iguana Street?
I don't mind Iguana Street as a whole having an article even if it does only appear in that one movie and isn't especially important, since I don't really like the whole "try to cram everything remotely related onto one page" style that a lot of wikis tend to do... seriously, I'd rather see little "stub" articles for minor characters ANY DAY compared to an endless "List of minor characters" page, especially on a wiki completely devoted to one series that has no excuse for cramming them all into one page like that (Wikipedia not having separate pages for every character I can understand, since it does try to have articles for everything without going super in-depth on every single little thing... but not on a fan wiki for a single anime/manga series.)They seriously gave it its own article instead of having it as a reference one the Super Saiyan Son Goku page?
But yeah, giving McDonald's a wiki article when it only appears very briefly and there's really nothing to say about it is kind of ridiculous. A minor character I could see, as long as they at least have a name or do something... but a page for one brief random cameo of a real-life restaurant is going a bit too far.

I think that commercial is from Hong Kong.Craddle wrote:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FUnmeWjEYlo&TheBlackPaladin wrote:Ah, thank you. Did McDonald's ever act as a corporate sponsor for DBZ? I know they did for Kai, but what about DBZ?

It is! It even says on the ad that the offer is valid only for Hong Kong and Macau regions.funrush wrote:I think that commercial is from Hong Kong.Craddle wrote:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FUnmeWjEYlo&TheBlackPaladin wrote:Ah, thank you. And the kid said 龜波氣功 (Gwai Boh Hei Gung) which is the equivalent to "Kamehameha" in the Cantonese translations of the anime/manga series.

Yeah, I know it is. That's why the video title says "HK."funrush wrote:I think that commercial is from Hong Kong.Craddle wrote:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FUnmeWjEYlo&TheBlackPaladin wrote:Ah, thank you. I just thought the little kid with the static Super Saiya-jin hair was hilarious.

They have had "Happy Sets" commercials for DB in Japan, so it's possible.

I wrote that articleThe Time Traveller wrote:They seriously gave it its own article instead of having it as a reference one the Super Saiyan Son Goku page?
But only because they told me to.
EDIT: No wait, I didn't I wrote the Iguana Street article and they made a subpage from it. Not my fault
Oh, you think the Grand Tour is your ally, you merely stepped into the Grand Tour. I was born in it, moulded by it. I didn’t see the Super until I was already a man; by then, it was nothing to me but blinding!
