So it randomly came back into my memory that I had read somewhere that "Isshin Ittai / The Ebb & The Flow" (a track from Kenji Yamamoto's DragonBall Kai score, released on Soundtrack III & Songs) was actively being replaced in international broadcasts of the refreshed series (well, at least the English dub) before they made the full-on switch to the Kikuchi score.
Something I always like to reiterate is that no-one (Toei, Columbia, etc.) never outright said "Such-and-such track is infringing!" I stand by that. They simply said they were investigating some potentially infringing tracks, and left it at that before sweeping the entire thing under the rug.
That being said, since that one particular track was actively being replaced, that's the best hint we have that they sorta-quasi-acknowledged at least one of the tracks as plagiarism (even though we've documented several that we all collectively believe to be, of course).
So this is true, right? Can someone point me to a concrete example (a specific scene) of this being done, and hopefully even provide me to a source (maybe on Nicktoons' website?) so I can verify for myself before writing about it? Wanted to make a note of this in the big feature just for completeness' sake.
kenisu's site lists it first being used in Kai episode 56 when Trunks kills Mecha Freeza. Was this an example I could check out?
(I had no idea whether to categorize this post as "Music" or "DragonBall Kai". Heh.)

Here is a real video clip of that temporary replacement version broadcast on Nicktoons. At the time, only Nicktoons was broadcasting the Android arc outside Japan, so I am sure that this is the only version that got this temporary replacement.VegettoEX wrote:So it randomly came back into my memory that I had read somewhere that "Isshin Ittai / The Ebb & The Flow" (a track from Kenji Yamamoto's DragonBall Kai score, released on Soundtrack III & Songs) was actively being replaced in international broadcasts of the refreshed series (well, at least the English dub) before they made the full-on switch to the Kikuchi score.

Re: "The Ebb & The Flow" Replacement
Huh. This is news to me. I guess if they were going to replace that scene's music with something, "The Braveheart Challenges The Strong" certainly would have been the piece for it (even though that one got driven into the ground for overuse... the very definition of "too much of a good thing").
Wasn't it around the time when that episode first started being shown on U.S. television that the replacement score was announced? I always kind of assumed somebody involved in the production of Avatar caught on to the plagiarism once the U.S. airing had gone through.

BGM forever! If only more people paid attention to it... well, I intend to change that.

This contains the same clip that kei17 posted, but it has the plus of having comparisons between the original Nicktoons edit (with The Ebb and the Flow), the replacement Nicktoons edit (with the Braveheart Challenges the Strong), and the DVD/Blu-ray uncut (with the Kikuchi score):

Speaking of which, A New Foe Rears His Head / Arata na Teki no Shutsugen was also replaced with Mystery / [Nazo] on Nicktoons. It's still there since Nicktoons still has the Yamamoto score on episodes 55-63.
