What manga replaced DB in Shonen Jump?

Post by Dayspring » Sat May 28, 2005 1:19 pm

Title says it all. US and Japanese versions, please. (And yes I know that US Jump used "DBZ-not-DB-you-f00king-n00b~~1111oneoneeleven2")

Nothing yet. They're still doing 1 or 2 chapter previews of other titles, but they were doing that *before* DBZ left.

Would I be correct in saying "One Piece" in the Japanese version?
Where's the beef?

Err... not quite sure what you're asking, but the furigana over the English title read "Wanpiisu," so just "One Piece" is fine. The Japanese phrase "Hitotsu Nagi no Dai-Hihou" is also given this pronunciation via furigana, as Oda-sensei is so fond of doing.

I think he was asking if he was correct in saying One Piece replaced Dragon Ball in the Japanese Jump.

There was a gap of over a year before One Piece debuted, so no. However, it did replace DB in terms of popularity. :)

In that phone book sized magazine there's always manga coming and going in there really. Rurouni Kenshin being another one that did achieve some popularity, but towards the end of that it had to deal with the beginnings of One Piece.

I think it's more like half a chapter.

I personaly hopped that after removing DBZ from US SJ they'd publish more One Piece, Naruto and Shaman King chaps so we can get further in all three series. I don't want to see them end, but I know One Piece and Shaman King have some excellent scenes that have yet to be printed and I want to see some of the later Naruto chaps.

One Piece had 4 chapters in the latest issue. :)

And to get technical, nothing replaced the manga of DBZ in Jump because it wasn't a manga, it was an anime. ;)

I was about to redirect you to my initial post, but then saw that one of the mods changed it from DB to DBZ. :? :P
