What if Toei hired Bruce Faulconer?

Post by UnbiasedDBZfan » Sat Jan 21, 2012 4:07 pm

For a new DB special other DB related program. Would it be weird? How would Japan react? Would they be like 'oh God this idiot composer from the shitty English dub is here to ruin our ears?' Or would they enjoy? How about your preferences?

Despite example, I do not believe the English dubs are shitty

If he was given as much time as needed like how Scott has described, it would be interesting to hear.

In the end though, it will never happen. Ever.

You never know until you try! Bruce Faulconer was stated not to have been trying in DBZ, if he was trying then Toei might have hired him. Also Faulconer's Boo arc work is some of the best in the entire series IMHO. On par with Kikuchi.

Linking to videos does not constitute as proof to anything.

Other than that, it would be interesting if that happen (which it never ever will). I'd be more interested if his music went along with the show better, maybe that would change if he "put in more effort".

Bruce Faulconer didn't compose ALL of his stuff you know.... please refer the original US soundtrack composers as "Faulconer Productions" or "Team Faulconer" please.

Why do you post so many Faulconer-related threads here? You said you were not a Faulconer fanboy, but you do seem to be so. Getting back to the topic, anyway, it would be fun to see and they would not cause any trouble that someone did in Kai.

Because it's fun and it's good the see what the people think you know. Canadians barring myself and my buddies usually loathe Faulconer. I am one of those Canadians who tolerates both the Ocean and Funimation soundtracks as well as both dubs.

If Bruce Faulconer was hired by Toei you'd probably get the exact same Japanese score you have today but with credit given to "Faulconer Productions" and "Bruce Faulconer"... Kikuchi would be credited as "synthesist" and "audio engineer" or something like that. maybe "copyist"!

I think he's trying to say it would be such a rare thing that it might actually rip reality apart and change all that is and we know. ya know, in this odd reality Faulconer is japanese and composes just like kikuchi, and kikuchi would take yamamoto's place. LOL.

As one of my metal gear friends would say... YOU'VE CREATED A TIME PARADOX!

They will not. Not that I think he's simply bad or OMG, don't touch my Kikuchi.
But he's gaijin, nuff said.

It's really rare when Japanese company hire someone from abroad to do something bigger
and if he's foreign, he's often living in Japan for longer time.
If they really hired Faulconer for DB series, they will at least mix the music better the US studio.
With silent spaces and more space for individual tracks than this shitty mixtape playing in US episode.

I like his music, but I don't like in the series mostly because of the episode mix.
FighterZ, Street Fighter 6, Mortal Kombat: Funky_Strudel
PS5: Dynamixx88
Trust me, I'm millenial and a designer.

Apart from a few of my childhood friends in Osaka(who speak English well BTW) I bet BFP's music would be panned IMO. No offence Scott, I love ya stuff and all, but SOME of your music is a bit too serious and brash and Kikuchi is a bit more dramatic and light-hearted(at times) and to see him replaced by some weird European American(s) with techno is a bit strange. But you still have me

I'd hardly call the Faulconer Group score "Techno".

There are a variety of styles that make up the entire soundtrack that you can;t just pick one genre and stick it to the entire thing.

Yeah you're right there's orchestra, rock, synthesiser, techno and others I might not know, BUT the BFP's score is mainly techno. In most shonen anime in Japan, the sort of music Bruce and his team make would be unfitting(barring DBZ as it's more action pack laser shooting stuff) and maybe Naruto.

haha sorry, I thought people would catch my drift. The Faulconer Productions music in the show is by four different composers but credited to BF and the company. I was joking that he'd hire Kikuchi and take the credit. So...same score as the Japanese version but different credits.

It was only asked "if Bruce was hired by Toei"...not if he actually wrote the music.

Shunsuke Kikuchi's music style isn't anything like TF's.

If the music was composed by Kenji Yamamoto and credited as Shuki Levy's, the musical difference would be obvious.

It's like on Ultimate Tenkaichi, they only credit Chris Ayres as the English Freeza but there's also the Granny Freeza (aka Linda Young).
