Dragon Box: The Movies - FUNimation Release Still Possible?

Post by samuraix123 » Wed Feb 01, 2012 8:55 am

So now that the Dragonball Z Dragon Boxes have been finished, Kai is coming to a close & the Blu-rays are canceled, will Funimation finally start working on releasing Dragon Box: The Movies? Do you think Funimation will include the American broadcast music in it?

As a fan of both the American & Japanese versions, I hope they do not include it, but maybe Funimation may feel that if they don't add the American music it may not sell as well?
The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

I hope so. They purchased the masters, so they really should release it. Of course, since they just finished their own remastered movie sets, that may take awhile.

US broadcast music has no place on a Dragonbox release as it is designed for fans of the original Japanese version. There are already enough releases with it on there already, & if you really want it on Dragonbox masters it can be done easily enough with a computer & a DVD drive.

I really have a hard time understanding viewpoints like this. Who's to say that only the fans of the original Japanese version have the right to an easily accessible way of having the best video with their favorite choice of audio? While it may not have been "right" for FUNimation to make new musical scores for the movies (as well as the Z series), the fact is, that's what happened and that's what some people enjoy, or sometimes even prefer. It doesn't seem fair for fans of certain scores to be denied great video quality.

As long as it doesn't "hurt" the video quality, I think all three audio options should be present. Make it fair for everyone and stop splitting the fanbase, catering certain releases to fans of certain audio options. Why not one release that's the best for everyone? I just feel like too many people, rather than have a release that can make everybody happy, want one where the fans of the other are left out.

*end of rant*

Seriously though, as a fan of both, I can't see why people don't want both sides (sub and dub) of the fandom to be happy.
I am neither subbie nor dubbie, I am all that is good: I am a FANBOY!

The Z dragon boxes didn't sell well.

Do you have a source for that? I mean, they did manage to sell out, after all.

They were limited of course that's why they sold out and not that many copies to begin with.

But that's still not an actual sales number. Something can be limited and sell well.

That's still not any proof that they did not sell well. At the very least, due to them selling out so fast, it might be fair to say they sold higher than FUNimation's expectations. Sounds like you're just speculating.

I sure hope The Movies comes out here, but with the movie packs, it'll be a while yet. It would seem dumb not to release them, I mean, it's not like Toei just handed the Z movies over with the series, right? There must have been an added cost to obtain those.

At least box one was available for 2 years, so I don't think you can say they printed that few.

I don't want to start a fight but then they shouldn't include English audio.

If you're just referring to this fourm then maybe, but look beyond this forum about the dragon boxes.
