Discussion regarding the entirety of the franchise in a general (meta) sense, including such aspects as: production, trends, merchandise, fan culture, and more.

DBZ HD on PSN and Zune Marketplace

I have no idea if this is either an Orange Brick upscale, the Blu-ray version, or a whole new remastering.
It doesn't seem to be up on Video Unlimited yet.

The whole Season One, episodes 001 to 039 are available on Xbox 360's Zune Marketplace in 1080p HD, the source is Level's Blu-ray.

However, Zune.net is only 720p, apparently.
FUNimation 2015 Releases I want:
- Kai 2.0 on Blu-ray

My bad it's on the PSN store. I thought it would of been in a different category.
Episode 1 is a little over 1 gig. The Blu-Rays are discontinued right? Then wouldn't it be weird buying the first season in HD only to have the rest of the series be the Orange Brick version?

Edit: It seems episodes past 34 are also HD.

Episode 1 on Xbox LIVE's Zune Marketplace 480p/1080p is free for everyone, and so is DBZ's S09E09 480p (Orange Bricks).

480p = Orange Bricks
1080p = Level Sets

It's odd that FUNimation didn't bother to release the complete first season on Blu-ray, since it covers the Saiyan arc. I'd definitely consider since it's the best looking version of DBZ!

By the way, if you don't live in US and want to download the free DBZ stuff on US Market, read this tutorial: http://digiex.net/guides-reviews/consol ... arket.html

Since the whole first season is in HD I'm guessing the Blu-Rays aren't dead. They'll just be available digitally.

On PSN:

Size: 1100 MB
Resolution: 1920 x 1080
Video Codec: AVC 6.0 Mbps
Audio Codec: AAC 256 Kbps

It's just English with Japanese music.

Price: HD- $1.99
Price for the Orange Brick and HD- $1.99
Just Orange Brick- $0.99

How much will they charge for the episodes over at PSN Video Store? At 360's Zune they're 80 MSP each.

I have to hurry to get the free DBZ 001 HD 1080p Episode, it'll end on the 20th.

Except for the fact that the whole issue with the Blu-rays was how much time/money it took to remaster the footage, not the cost of physically producing the discs. They aren't going to continue that intensive process and then release it in a format that essentially no one uses. That would make absolutely no sense.
