Dragon Ball Kai now in Hong Kong
Dragon Ball Kai now in Hong Kong
I'm watching a bluray rip of Dragon Ball Kai with the Cantonese dub audio track (as aired in Hong Kong on TVB's J2 channel) and the verdict so far? They're using the Kikuchi score. Thought some of you might wanna know.

I think you should've posted this on the international news thread, but anyway, thank you for the information.
I like a commercial they aired:

There's an international thread?!
I heard people in Hong Kong are complaining that it's on once a week. Trying to find out more info on TVB's new summer schedule.

Speaking of complaints, how do people in Hong Kong think about the replacement Kikuchi score? Also, I want to know whether they kept the original cast from Z or not.tinlunlau wrote:I heard people in Hong Kong are complaining that it's on once a week. Re: Dragon Ball Kai now in Hong Kong
So far, they've replaced most of the main characters' voices. And from checking the official TVB forums, people were confused why the Cantonese dub is replaced with the Kikuchi score. They weren't in the know of the Kenji Yamamoto scandal. I've already explained what I know about it and referred them all to kanzenshuu.com for details.kei17 wrote:Speaking of complaints, how do people in Hong Kong think about the replacement Kikuchi score? Although, I think Krillin has the same voice actor from the old dub.
Wow, looks like TVB is seriously planning to air this weekly. They intend to air this until April 2014.

Wow, that actually was a pretty creative commercial. Kudos to whatever company produced it!
Has a Cantonese-dubbed version of "Dragon Soul" been shown yet?

A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."

I checked out the dub and it has the original Japanese song kept intact.TheBlackPaladin wrote:Has a Cantonese-dubbed version of "Dragon Soul" been shown yet?
Re: Dragon Ball Kai now in Hong Kong
I saw the commercial earlier tonight.
Basically, Vegeta lands in Hong kong and says "so this is hong kong!". Scans the people through his scouter and starts talking about how low their battle powers are. Then, the whole "Dragon Ball Kai, now on J2" shebang.

Re: Dragon Ball Kai now in Hong Kong
Sorry to dig up this old thread guys...I'm currently watching this version, I noticed that the names are not the same in Cantonese (characters, attacks).
Is there a website that lists all cantonese names ?
I am also looking for the name of the voice actors, as well as the name of the company that owns the rights for Hong Kong (Maybe Deltamac ?).
Thanks in advance for your help.
Edit : they removed "Saiyan Blood" (Toei ? J2 ?) for Vegeta's power up against Frieza

Strange...this is the only insert song that is missing. They're currently airing the Cell Game.

Re: Dragon Ball Kai now in Hong Kong
Sorry for necroposting
just to report that Dragon Ball Kai has finished airing in Hong Kong...the episode 98 was aired yesterday.
Hopefully J2 will quickly own the rights to dub and broadcast the Buu saga!

Re: Dragon Ball Kai now in Hong Kong
Fantastic idea for the commercial, though the execution sucks. Toei should've made it all animated and just swap different capitols for each country they sell the broadcasting rights to, shipping the ad along with episodes. Would be great for local adversiting.tinlunlau wrote:I saw the commercial earlier tonight.

Re: Dragon Ball Kai now in Hong Kong
The cropping could have been better than this by being more balanced.
FUNimation 2015 Releases I want:
- Kai 2.0 on Blu-ray
- Kai 2.0 on Blu-ray
Re: Dragon Ball Kai now in Hong Kong
Wasn't that shot animated specifically for Kai?

Yes, but this one was originally made in 4:3 AR.That's what dbboxkaifan probably means (about the crop).

Although...I don't know if this has been mentioned before, but it's quite disturbing to see how that shot looks like this one...I do not know if they reused some drawings/animation, but it's still quite similar.

Thanks for that uncropped shot.

Yeah, it's the same shot, only with some models replaced with others so it'd make sense for the Cell era.ShinGaijin wrote:Although...I don't know if this has been mentioned before, but it's quite disturbing to see how that shot looks like this one...I do not know if they reused some drawings/animation, but it's still quite similar.
It also explains why Gohan's so tiny — it's because they hazaphardly replaced little Trunks with him (and ironically, replaced teenage Gohan with Future Trunks). Goten was straight-removed, and Yumcha and Kuririn just got their hair changed to match the era.
