Which Japanese DBOX should I start with?
Lately I've been thinking about getting the original Japanese Dragon Boxes but I don't know which one to start with since I'm torn on how to go about getting them, on one side I'd like to get them in the original order they were released so I could in a way experience getting them the same way everyone else did when the DBOX's were first released, but if I did that I'd have to start with the Z Dragon BOX's which conflicts with my idea of starting a series from the begining, on the other hand I'd also like to get them in the order each series premiered, but in order to do that I'd have to start with the Dragon Ball DBOX which conflicts with my idea of getting the DBOX's in original release order since the DBOX for Dragon Ball wasn't released first. So here's my question, from your perspective which Japanese Dragon BOX do you think I should go after first?
If anyone has any of the DB/DBZ/DBGT or Maho Tsuaki Sally Japanese single DVD's that they'd be interested in selling send me a PM and I'll see if we can work something out.

I'd say GT because that's the one least likely for FUNi to release. But, if you don't mind that, I'd say the original Dragon Ball.

It's a tough one.
If you want to do it the cheapest, there are full set DBox single lots for Dragonball, Z, and GT on Yahoo Japan that are much cheaper, same with the films. I just saw a full Dragon Ball lot for $70.00. But then you also have to account for shipping to the U.S :/
You could always go for whats cheapest, in terms of the actual boxes) and hold watching them till you get the whole franchise in order? That's what I would do.
If you don't mind the U.S release, I'd see if it's cheaper to get the whole Z set here and wait till FUNimation announces whats next for the DBox release.

Dragon Box: Dragon Ball > Dragon Box: Dragon Ball Z > Dragon Box: Dragon Ball GT > Dragon Box: The Movies
Or - Dragon Box: The Movies > Dragon Box: Dragon Ball > Dragon Box: Dragon Ball Z > Dragon Box: Dragon Ball GT
For HDTV owners Dragon Box: The Movies seems to be quite an amazing Dragon Ball experience.

FUNimation 2015 Releases I want:
- Kai 2.0 on Blu-ray
- Kai 2.0 on Blu-ray
Re: Which Japanese DBOX should I start with?
I'd start from the Z Boxes, but that's just me. Or you could get the movie set to start with. It's VERY cool.
Re: Which Japanese DBOX should I start with?
Dragon Ball.
It's a lot nicer and has better packaging than the Z sets.
Though the GT and Movies sets will be cheaper. My first DBox was the GT set followed by the movies, than DB. I got the two Z volumes last.

I started with the GT set because that Dragon Radar TV remote control it comes with is so damn nice!!
I have all of them now except Dragonball, which I'll be looking at in the near future.

Start with the Dragon Ball Dragon Box, but get the Special Selection DVD as well. That way you can start with the Bardock Special and go in chronological order of the series.

I'd hold off on DB as that' something FUNi will most likely release next so I'd go with GT or the movies.
The movies(at least for me) will set you back lose to $500, GT is only $250 + commission(if your not sending it to family :p) oh and shipping.

I don't think that matters, since he's thinking of getting all of the japanese Boxes. The issue for him here is the order (chronological or of how they were released)Daimo-Rukiri wrote:I'd hold off on DB as that' something FUNi will most likely release next so I'd go with GT or the movies.

Than I'd go with this.
GT > Movies > DB > Z
Arranged by price, low to high.

Between getting them in chronological order and getting them in their release order, you went with price order? Besides, telling someone to start watching everything with GT is just meanDaimo-Rukiri wrote:Than I'd go with this.

Yes, but I don't know his budget why start with the expensive ones? Especially Z?Rukura wrote:Between getting them in chronological order and getting them in their release order, you went with price order? But if he want's them by release order than it'd be Z, DB, GT and the Movies.

Re: Which Japanese DBOX should I start with?
Experiencing them in the order that they were originally released has little value, in my opinion. I would still start in series order.

You overpaid for the movies. I've seen them sell (complete) for less than 250 on YJ.Daimo-Rukiri wrote:I'd hold off on DB as that' something FUNi will most likely release next so I'd go with GT or the movies.
The movies(at least for me) will set you back lose to $500, GT is only $250 + commission(if your not sending it to family :p) oh and shipping.
Even with commission, you'll have paid less than 300. Minus shipping, which is a bitch at the moment.
I didn't care much for the walkie-talkies, I ended up paying 150, or 185 minus shipping to Rinkya (YJ middleman service).
Re: Which Japanese DBOX should I start with?
I have 2 sets of Dragon Box the Movies if(one is just the movies though) if someone wants one I would give it to them I had a picture in my most recent dragon ball purchase, the only thing i didn't like about it is there is a scartch on Goku's face on the box art
. For that I'd ship it in the US for around 150ish-200ish dollars shipped (or a trade ^_^) but if that is too expensive let me know!

I still have most of my Dboxes well GT and the Movies from the original launch date, sold DB and Z in hopes FUNi would release them and so far they have minus DB.
I do plan on having the JPN versions now considering they're dirt cheap.

Go with the Japanese scheduled airing after Slump ended in February 1986 and before the Slump remake in November 1997.dbboxkaifan wrote:Dragon Box: Dragon Ball > Dragon Box: Dragon Ball Z > Dragon Box: Dragon Ball GT > Dragon Box: The Movies

Re: Which Japanese DBOX should I start with?
Thanks everyone for all of your opinions, after doing some thinking I've decided that I'd probably be better off just getting the DBOX singles instead of the actual DBOX's themselves as I don't really need things like the Dragon Book or other extras to enjoy the series, and I've also decided to start with the original DB series.
