Re: Dragonball, the Eternal Journey Yu-Gi-Oh! Gallery!
I think this is a neat idea, but the power scales of the characters are REALLY wonky. 100% Freeza is more powerful than Vegetto? Mr. Satan is as powerful as Kami? But overall, you did a good job doing this.
Re: Dragonball, the Eternal Journey Yu-Gi-Oh! Gallery!
Vegetto is far too weak, there is no reason to include a bunch of shitty AF stuff, Super Vegetto is nearly useless, Super Saiyan Krillin is just...ugh, and Vegetto has a time limit when the entire point of Vegetto is that he has no time limit.
I am not impressed overall. I think you tried to get too fancy with effects and spells and it's just a huge mess that I could run over with a tier 2, hell, maybe 3 deck before it even started putting its plays together.
Also, none of the cards are bound together with an archetype title. Somewhat minor, I suppose, but it breaks the Yugioh feel.

I do really like the idea but as people have noted it could use some reworking. Nice hustle though man!

Re: Dragonball, the Eternal Journey Yu-Gi-Oh! Gallery!
How did you accomplish the holo effects? Some of these look fantastic.
Notes I took as I scrolled down;
- I agree entirely with Rocketman on the need to organize these into archetypes. Some of these could be much more potent that way.
- Card grammar is wonky in places but I'm not perfect there either so just the usual cardmaker heads up.
- I would think #17 and #18 would be able to power each other up as well, maybe get them all to 2100 points. I would think the point of the three Jinzos would be to create a cheap offense that overpowers opponents who couldn't bring in powerful cards fast or swarm the field enough to protect them.
- I do like how Broly is a costlier Chaos Emperor Dragon. I could see that working for him. Perfect Cell meanwhile basically is Chaos Emperor Dragon with with a revival ability. I know you want to replicate his explosion and revival, but that seems a bit much.
- Wouldn't Cell Juniors be better as Tokens that Cell creates?
- Freeza's Third Form is delightfully overpowered, but particularly because you don't explicitly bar him from being normal summoned. Was that intentional? Most of the other transformations's effects are fine, since they're often tied to being special summoned from the previous form, but Freeza 3 for one tribute is kind of crazy.
- Why do all the Gohan card's have two card names?
- Representing each character's transformation as individual cards really of bloats the deck, particularly since you made most of them 5 stars to make it more viable to summon them via their previous forms (Even though most of them don't bar normal summoning). Spell or trap representations might be better, or at least a ritual monster (Hildegarn?) so the higher level cards could be tribute fodder if they can't be used at that point.
- Would more deck searching cards be in order? If were to run Goku as my primary offense, I'd need Goku, Sangan, or Shining Angel in my hand turn one or risk blowing a load of attack negating trap cards too early. While I'm not necessarily with him on the spells (I do get into all of the life points costs later), Rocketman's right in that a deck drawn from these cards could definitely be rolled before it sets up.
- Super Sayain 3 should probably be 3000, I think it's a big enough deal. But that's just me.
- Love Kami's effect, but total opponent card effect immunity is a bit much without some sort of specified set of cards (Say how Lord of Dragons gives effect immunity solely to Dragons).
- Interesting choice of picture for Puar when Puar is Honest to Super Sayains. I think the little guy would love being such a game changer.
- Vegito does need to be stronger. Not necessarily in the 4000 attack range, although that would fit very well, but stronger than Mecha Freeza at least. Not that I don't agree with what you did to Mecha Freeza, I have no issue ignoring the series battle powers when appropriate.
- I was going to comment on how weak a lot of these monster cards were, and while I still think it's an issue, then I saw your spells and traps and how many destruction cards and negation cards there are, respectively.
- One thing I did notice was there was a lot of life point costs, but no healing cards. That has to change, you can't pay half your life points every two turns just because there are two traps that take you back from 0. I do like a most of your spells and traps regardless.

Re: Dragonball, the Eternal Journey Yu-Gi-Oh! Gallery!
I get this ALL the time. I'm making the cards playable for the game of Yu-Gi-Oh! I know all the power levels of every character, BUT this is yugioh. They need to be playable. If I made everyone exactly like of the show, then everyone would be in the millions and billions. The highest ATK on a card is 10,000 in yugioh. It wouldn't even fit on the text.theawesomepossum777 wrote:I think this is a neat idea, but the power scales of the characters are REALLY wonky. 100% Freeza is more powerful than Vegetto? Also, they fit the same way as monsters in the game. They start out weaker, then get stronger with different forms. If you've played yugioh, then think of the LV monsters.
I don't really know any other better way the explain this...
If you play yugioh, then this should be extremely easy to understand. It would be completely unfair to play against normal yugioh decks if they all had that much ATK.

The AF + What-if's are just fun.Rocketman wrote:Vegetto is far too weak, there is no reason to include a bunch of shitty AF stuff, Super Vegetto is nearly useless, Super Saiyan Krillin is just...ugh, and Vegetto has a time limit when the entire point of Vegetto is that he has no time limit.

Real top yugioh decks would still easily be able to compete with these if they are smart.
Super Saiyan is basically considered an archetype; even without names in the title the cards can be played to fit well...think Chaos decks, Dino Rabbit, Stall decks, etc.
I gave the SSj forms of Vegito time limits because they would be to good, plus the SSj3 form is actually short-term.

Thanks. So far everything mentioned has had a very good reason for why it is like that.Akumaito Beam wrote:I do really like the idea but as people have noted it could use some reworking. Nice hustle though man!

The name doesn't always matter; they have effects that work together with other monsters.
Where do you see wrong grammer?
They have effects that work together. They aren't Jinzo. They are just unaffected by Traps, but the opponent can still use them.
They are not completely like C.E.D. They also have good requirements for their summonings.
Cell's effect is already more then enough. Cell Jr. is still a figher. His effect also fits well with the show.
His effect really isn't overpowered at all. Good, but not overpowered. There are much better monsters then him that are even still legal in the real game.
Names just look cool, and the second name in the textbox fits with more effects.
Using Spells to bring out higher level monsters usually aren't worth using at all except a few. This is much more like the actual game and at least gives them a chance to compete with the real decks by a bit.
There will be more searchers in the future. Remember this is a on-going set. The time he seen it the limited list was made yet. The limited list is now up. Soon there may be a forbidden list.
Depends on the card, effect, etc. Among lots of things.
Kami can easily be destroyed, he'd hardily be used in the top decks actually.
Couldn't find a better pic for Puar yet.
Just because they are stronger in the show doesn't mean I have to make them auto-broken in the game. You have to think about Yugioh a lot more, then Dragonball in this situation.
As stated before...think...Yugioh...
Life point costs have become less of a problem as the game has evolved. ...much less LOL Also, there maybe a ban list updated later for these cards for most of them.

I really need to try GIMP now. It's free, isn't it?
Oh, look at me, overanalysis. Hmm.
I wasn't thinking of spells to summon monsters, I was thinking of replacing the idea of some forms with a spell. I agree spell required summoning is usually wonky.hulkty wrote:Using Spells to bring out higher level monsters usually aren't worth using at all except a few. I don't think they have to be auto-broken, I just don't see Vegetto in the 2600-2800 attack club. Opinions.hulkty wrote:Just because they are stronger in the show doesn't mean I have to make them auto-broken in the game. You have to think about Yugioh a lot more, then Dragonball in this situation.
Sure, but in my experience there are two kinds of swarm decks, those that get crushed under simple power and those that deal with it. Since I run high-power normal deck right now (I will always have a 1900-2000 ATK 4-star monster on the first draw, basically), I've slaughtered the first (Beat a Jurac deck five times in a row because I barely gave him time to set up, and in the few instances he did my traps finally got some use) and been slaughtered by the second (Gustos). But I see a lot more of the first type than the second. Assuming everyone runs low-initial-power set up decks can get you burned if your setup is bad.hulkty wrote:As stated before...think...Yugioh... I honestly hated the idea of making forms into Spell cards, it would actually make it much to easy to use and make them overpowered very quickly if they retain the same effects as their Monster card forms.
Still, it's the same as Yu-Gi-Oh! Imagine fusing to guys with 200 ATK with a Polymerization, then the fusion has a good effect and has 3000+ ATK...yeah...not happening in this game without a ban. LOL
Still, that's undecidable in Yugioh. The game really is more luck based, then skill these days. Without a proper side deck, it really usually is true about the guy with the most money usually wins; even if he isn't as smart as the budget player.
Like I said earlier, the game has evolved so much, that we hardly care about life point cost now.

It has been a long time coming, but the complete overhaul of the set/gallery is FINALLY complete!
