Well, in the very first DragonBall manga chapter it carries 16 regular-sized ones and one large one. Dunno if that helps.
BGM forever! If only more people paid attention to it... well, I intend to change that.

I think it may have differed between episodes, mangas, and movies. I don't remember off hand, but I'll try comparing the episode to the "Path to Power" movie later.

in the PATH to POWER movie, Bulma has a case that holds 17 total capsules(16 small ones & 1 BIG ONE.) And the first DB movie: same as above (17 capsules) and the original TV anime series: also 17 capsules.

PS: i want to make some replicas for this capsule technology. Since the SPARKING game comes with one big-size one. I need to get 16 mini-ones. I wonder how ? or Just make a box of 5.
