Dragon Ball's 30th anniversary

Post by Hellspawn28 » Fri Aug 10, 2012 2:14 pm

I know it's rather early but what do you think what will happen in 2014 for Dragon Ball's 30th anniversary? We will get another Dragon Ball animated movie, Fox announces a Dragon Ball movie reboot, Toei announces a new Dragon Ball TV series, or we just get another major video game?

I think we are likely to get something for sure and I'm hoping for some type of big anniversary film. It would be cool if they did some time of time travel story which had Goku teaming up with his younger self similar to Sonic Generations.

I'd love if they decided to reanimate the series and follow the manga perfectly, not sure if they would though :/

More Dragon Boxes here in the states.

If FUNimation is waiting for the right time to release more Dragon Ball, this is a great opportunity to make a profit.

I think it's very possible to get another animated movie. I don't want to see a live action version, I don't care who it's made by. Toei....A new series? Hoshi? Haha I had to do it :P Nah I don't think we will ever get a new series buddy, I just don't see Toei getting back into that with Dragonball. we better be thanking God were getting movies and ova's and stuff lol but I'm hope next year we get our original Dragon-boxes.

If they make a new series then it will likely be a reboot then a sequel to GT. I would watch it as long if it's good and be successful if the word of mouth is good.

You'll watch the entire series of this new show if it's good or bad and you know it. :P

If the new film does well enough next year then I think Toei will make another follow up to it in 2014. Or they could do a 30th anniversary TV special or OVA.

Of that I have no doubt :D

If they do something live action related then I rather see a Tokusatsu series done by Toei or Tsuburaya then a live action film. I doubt Fox can release a live action reboot in 2014 since they would have to rush it and rushing a film won't give them time to focus on the film. Not to mention 2014 has a lot of major films out coming that year that could easily over shadow a DB live action reboot.

I'm sure something will happen, either something small or something big. We got the 10th Anniversary movie for the original Dragon Ball anime's 10 years anniversary, we got the JSAT special for Weekly Jump's 40th anniversary, and we got Dragon Ball Kai for DBZ's 20th anniversary.
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.

Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

It would be stupid not to do something special. I won't be surprise if we got nothing but I hope for something. Dragon Ball has been around nearly 30 years and it's still stay pretty strong today.

I want to see another movie that's animated like ''The path to power'' now that is some sweet ass animation. I mean it's not the level of the old Disney movies but it is my favorite :)

I also think some type of new DB manga is possible. Not from AT but maybe from Naho Ooishi? As long we get something special then I will be happy.

I'd like a new series with new content that retains the current cast of characters and that I could watch a new episode of each week of, but to be honest I'm still stunned we're getting a new movie (even though Toei won't tell us what it's about >_< ) right now. I was sure that after how Kai went down that DB was going to hibernate til the 30th Anniversary. Can I really say that I'd be content with getting a movie for the 30th anniversary when I barely know anything about the one they're currently making? Hmm...

I don't think there'd be any new manga that isn't DBSD, even though I'd really like that too.
On hiatus.

They'll probably do a film or new TV series that recasts all/most of the actors. It'd certainly make the most sense, since I'm not sure [realistically] Nozawa is going to be up to doing this by the time we hit the thirty-fifth anniversary.

Maybe Toei will go back and re-remaster the entire series and movies again and give them Blu-ray release.
If anyone has any of the DB/DBZ/DBGT or Maho Tsuaki Sally Japanese single DVD's that they'd be interested in selling send me a PM and I'll see if we can work something out. ;).

It's possible, but I kind of doubt it.
